Fatigue, fatigue and more fatigue

Does it ever go, I am 18 months in remission from breast cancer, 12 months in remission from skin cancer nd six months in remission from Thymoma cancer. I also have lupus, ILD, OA and other lesser things, I’m 79years young and care for my husband. But I am always so tired and around 6p.m. each night the fatigue hits me like a sledge hammer. Please what if anything can I do to ease this.

Hi nannabee,

Thanks for your post.

It’s understandable that you want to know if there is anything you can do to ease the fatigue you are experiencing. You don’t say what treatment you have had but fatigue is a common side effect of cancer and its treatments. It may last for weeks, months or longer after your treatment has finished. It sounds as though you also have a lot to manage with other diagnosis and caring for your husband, which will be impacting on the fatigue you are experiencing.

As @Curlywurly1 says, there are lots of causes for fatigue and we would always suggest you contact you GP or treatment team to make them aware of the symptoms you are experiencing and the impact this is having on your quality of life. You can also read about some tips for managing fatigue here.

Talking to someone who has had a similar experience can often be helpful. Our Someone Like Me service can match you with a trained volunteer who’s had a similar experience to you.
