Fatigue

Hi all,

Has anyone been referred by their GP to a fatigue specialist? My private health insurance have said that they are happy to cover a referral but they don’t know who to refer me to! I am already seeing a clinical psychologist at my local cancer centre following a referral by my oncologist but I really need to see someone who can advise me on every aspect of fatigue. We don’t have a fatigue clinic locally ( I live in South Wales) so I’m looking for an alternative.Any thoughts? I’m 2 years on from active treatment.

Thanks

Hi ruthu

Hi Ruthu and Naz,
I’ve not heard of specialists in fatigue, tricky since it covers a wide range of areas. I’m hoping to get to go to an event arranged by a hospital (in London) in a week or 2s time and will let you know if I find out if there is a specialist. I wonder whether a really good nutritionist could help layered on top of getting out for a regular walk, trying yoga etc?
Naz - I saw a clinical psychologist around the time I had radio. I did find it helpful…first sessions were chat then focused on things which came out of that, for me that was stuff to do with not having kids v risk if I didn’t take Tamoxifen, my incredibly tiny family being so disappointing unengaged through my diagnosis and treatment, background stuff to do with why I don’t have kids, why I struggle to accept offers of help from pretty much anyone, and how I see my future. I think either the bcn or gp can refer you. Hope that helps…I need to respond to you on another string!
