I do like a good thriller myself, so Michael Connelly (the Harry Bosch novels), but I’m also partial to a Stephen King book , and Sarah Rayne for a decent supernatural thriller
On the lighter side, I enjoy Miss Read, Bill Bryson and Barbara Pym ( the latter, both very funny!!)
i hope ope people will join in and perhaps we can get a good discussion going! If nothing else, it might provide a momentary distraction!!
At the moment I’m steady getting through the Agatha Raisin books - currently on the 13th one - Although I’ve been reading them for ages, I find they are a very welcome escape from the stress of the unknown.
I also like most of the authors who have already been mentioned - some I haven’t read and may look into - and anything true crime (I wanted to be a criminologist).
Basically any book with a dead body in the first 20 pages. Patricia Cornwall, Kathy Reichs, Karen Slaughter. A particular favourite at the minute is Lynwood Barely.
Good morning ladies
Just found this thread and as an avid reader I wanted to share my own favourite author John Connolly. His Charlie Parker detective thrillers are beautifully written, they are intelligent mysteries with a hint of the supernatural. Totally engrossing and highly recommended. I gave up on Cornwall and Reichs too many scientific abbreviations for me.
I like Karin Slaughter as well and Steven King is a long time fave.
Out if interest can you name your favourite book?
Mine is Interview with the vampire by Ann Rice. Nothing like the film which I didn’t enjoy at all. The book is a wonderful gothic love story.
Xx
I’ve read a few John Connelly books Jaqb and enjoyed them. Recently read the latest book by Paula thingy who did Girl on a Train. That was pretty good. My current favourite author is Linwood Barclay.
Ooh JacqB, I love Interview with the Vampire altho I think The Vampire Lestat is even better! I read most of her vampire series when I was younger and the (IwtV) movie is one if my favourite movies ever - only time I’ve ever fancied Tom Cruise ?
Anyway, more of my favs: Liane Moriarty, Jeffrey Deaver, Gillian Flynn, Ruth Ware.
