FAVOURITE FILMS

thought i would start a thread where we can put down our fav films and say a few lines about them
Hubby and I are in a DVd club and I can never think of films to order. He gets such boring ones. Is at this moment watching a silent film so boringggggggg!

One of mine is Brief Encounter, then the Sound of Music.

Hi Liverbird

One of my favs is Meet the Parents with Ben Stiller.
They made a sequel too, but they are never as funny as the first one.

Then Shrek has got to be up there too.

Take care

the Green Mile

always gets to me, stays very close to the original book too, most unusual. Tom Hanks was brilliant in the way he was the prison guard and was never ever the ‘star’ … true acting.

Love Brief Encounter but also Rebecca, and Four weddings and a Funeral - the funeral has me in tears every time

Dilys

Love Top Gun…especially the singing in bar…also anything by Stephen King

COLD MOUNTAIN …very moving

Dirty Dancing- I love that film, also The Wedding Singer- very 80s and very funny

Oh, also…Gladiator- all that testosterone!

The Truman Show - just love Jim Carey in that. And its the only film I can watch over and over again !

Oh and Shrek 2 of course - LOL !

Amelie…don’t be put off by the subtitles, it’s such a lovely film you’ll soon forget about the subtitles.
Happy ending too and one to watch if you’re feeling down.

THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS

CAPTAIN CORRELLIS MANDOLIN

One we saw recently which was very good was departed well worth renting.

Whistle Down The Wind, made in an age of innocence.

Dr Zhivago is also hard to beat, those “come to bed” eyes of Omar Sharif!

Anyone else still have a secret passion for Gone with the Wind?

Beauty and the Beast - preferred the Beast to when he changed back into a man though!!!

Also, Tom Hanks in Philadelphia, what a moving film

Life of David Gale

or

Pay It Forward - if you want a really good cry - its a deffo!!

Fiona

Coyote Ugly is a proper girly flick that has an unmistakable feel good factor which is always useful.

Wendy

Yes, Gone With The Wind was a real favourite when on Taxotere - you’ll recall my account of prolific flatulence Dilys!!!

I have a colleague who has watched Pride & Prejudice more times than Colin Firth has changed his underpants. BBC version far superior to the Yanks’ efforts.

Towering Inferno, Fantastic

Casablanca, or any film with Humpty Go-Kart

Oh can’t wait for the Wind, Dahlia. And yes, so agree about Casablanca and the glorious Humph!
