Fear for my children

I was diagnosed in may with stage 2 idc.

Have had mastectomy, healed really well and I’ve had two rounds of chemo so far! 14 to go :raising_hands:t3:

My problem is, I have two boys aged 2 and 7.

My 2 year old has got a lot of bruises on his legs and arms, he’s a typical boy who plays very rough ! But my first thought was, right he’s got leukemia. He also struggles to go the toilet so his belly is hard and I swear I seen a lump (no one else can see it) and my brains goes to he’s got cancer!

I fear this is going to take over my life and I’m petrified!

Hi @aimee11 I’m sorry to hear all that you have been through, and are still going through, especially with such small children. I really admire you :hugs:

I’ve just come on here about your son’s constipation really. When my daughter was about 2.5 or 3 she would get very constipated. We gave her plenty of fibre - fruit, weetabix etc but eventually it got to the point when she had to have a manual removal under anaesthetic :see_no_evil_monkey: I felt so guilty! Anyway, the surgeon said her diet was fine but that she needed to drink much more, otherwise the fibre was just like cardboard and absorbed any fluid becoming a solid mass. So we got her to drink every 30 mins to start off with, had a star chart for drinking and after a couple of weeks it just became normal for her to drink a cup at a time. She’s now 27 and has never been constipated again! It’s hard with a 2 year old who doesn’t understand but worth the effort as it sets up good habits for life.

You are bound to be anxious about yourself and your boys but some children are just always covered in bruises, grazes etc  I had a boy like that and another girl who was always grubby. How ever much I washed her the dirt just seemed to stick to her :rofl:

Reach out for some support and counselling. If you have a Maggie’s centre nearby pop in there otherwise ask your breast cancer nurse where you can get some help getting this under control.
