fear

Start chemo on 2nd Jan 2008 after WLE and seven lymph nodes removed( Nov 19th) only one had cells.
Oncology Nurse frightened me to death with talk of neutropenia sepsis, was frightened of dying and chemo not working before but I am having panic attacks about the whole thing now.
I am going to be a grandma any day now For 1st time and this stinking cancer has taken all the joy I had of looking forward to the event, I am so scared I won’t see HER through babyhood HELP … anyone out there who has beaten this.!!!

Hi Corsa

I know that things are very difficult for you at the moment and that you feel that your breast cancer has taken the joy out of becoming a grandma, but I am sure you will be overjoyed when your grandchild arrives. I was wondering if either the Breast Cancer Care telephone support group or peer support service may be of help to you?

The aim of the telephone support group is to give you the opportunity to talk privately and confidentially to other people around the UK with similar experiences. The groups are completely free (we pay for the phone calls) and as long as you have access to a phone and have a quiet private place from which to call, you can join us from anywhere in the UK.
For more information telephone 0808 800 6000 or email <script type=“text/javascript”>eval(unescape(‘%64%6f%63%75%6d%65%6e%74%2e%77%72%69%74%65%28%27%3c%61%20%68%72%65%66%3d%22%6d%61%69%6c%74%6f%3a%74%65%6c%65%70%68%6f%6e%65%73%75%70%70%6f%72%74%67%72%6f%75%70%73%40%62%72%65%61%73%74%63%61%6e%63%65%72%63%61%72%65%2e%6f%72%67%2e%75%6b%22%3e%74%65%6c%65%70%68%6f%6e%65%73%75%70%70%6f%72%74%67%72%6f%75%70%73%40%62%72%65%61%73%74%63%61%6e%63%65%72%63%61%72%65%2e%6f%72%67%2e%75%6b%3c%2f%61%3e%27%29%3b’))</script> .

Hi Corsa,

I am sorry that your nurse chose to focus on possible problems. Please do not dwell on what she said.

I had a WLE and 11 nodes removed, one of which was affected like you. This was 18 months ago. I then had chemo and rads and I’m here and enjoying life.

The great news is you about to become a grandma. How wonderful, a Christmas baby.

You will be fine so please enjoy the baby and Christmas and deal with the chemo (as you will) next year.

Sending you a big hug.
