Good evening @misha , better late than never!
:man_facepalming::laughing:.

Feeling a little shattered and grog, but managed two positive things today.

Update on chemo nurse is that I was given a big apology and was assured that this will not happen again. I think its triggered some updated training on cold capping to which is a relief to hear!

And picked up my new wig today. Totally different from my previous look of long dark hair, to a short blonde funky cut. I actually like it. Just a bit scary wearing it out for the first time.

Hope everyone else is doing ok? xx

My arm is feeling quite sore on my infusion arm , big fatigue and a bit of acid reflux, but generally ok so far . :crossed_fingers:
Just got to hope my liver behaves itself for yhe next round :man_facepalming: x

Hi pineapples123, hope you dont mind me contacting you?
Like you ive had my secondary EC postponed due to low neutophils, but also feel absolutely fine. Did you ever discovery if there was anything wrong with how you were injecting?
Have you gone on to have further EC at your original 2 week schedule?
Anything you have done different to help keep up your neutrophils.
Sorry for all the questions just hopeful for some help, i feel im waisting treatment time as im feeling absolutely fine.
Many thanks

Hi @squidge143
I have gone on to have 2 more EC s and my my neutrophils have been fine. I did have a few district nurses coming out to help me with the injections. Sometimes when I did them bits of the serum seemed to come out when I injected . I was told to pinch some fat. Then put injection in at 45 degrees. Then un pinch fat and push syringe thing down and wait for 10 to 15 seconds before you take needle out. Doing it that way no liquid escapes.
Not sure if that made a difference but they have been fine ever since and I’m having chemo sessions every 2 weeks.
Xxx

Hi all, how is everyone doing?
Had a quiet week as oncologist cancelled my treatment last Thursday so I could have some respite from side effects, back pain, sore nose, upset tummy and numb toes on right foot were the main ones.

Been nice to feel half human and do some normal things like shopping (with a mask) and visiting the odd friend :two_hearts:

I have also been gettting out walking the dog! Yes we got him last Saturday he’s a wee dot and such a sweetheart

So sorry @tigertot you had such a horrible experience but equally happy that your wig is good, I bet you look fabulous  I bought a few items from the Wigs4u website as really good value, I got caps, nets, hairbands and the fringe to use with a hat once mine goes as thought it would be less of a faff if I need to nip to the corner shop. Oh they do a wig stand too :+1: Hope you have a good week  :two_hearts:

Morning @zoemac

Good to hear your treatment back on tomorrow. Hope it goes well for you.

I’m due my 8th tomorrow. Hopefully my blood’s be ok :crossed_fingers:due to start at 1.15 tomorrow.

Had lots’s of up’s & down’s in last week. Not felt brilliant :disappointed:

Low energy, upset tummy. My picc line still in, no suggestion to remove but clot there anyway now.
Blood thinners caused a few side effects.

Trying my best to stay positive.

Hi @zoemac yes I’ve got a couple of fringes from Wigs4U. Was quite impressed. :+1: Just waiting on a delivery of headbands too. Love the wig but I feel really paranoid of it slipping so trying out headbands. I think its really important to feel confident about wearing your wig , and if you don’t its worth while spending time to work out how to put things right if you do want to wear one.

Nice little doggy you have there, bet he brings you some joy!

@wba Hope you’re feeling a little better today and managed some decent rest? Tummy issues are not nice to deal with and can make you feel low. :kissing_heart: Sending hugs x

I had a bad day yesterday with acid reflux, my I felt so ill and it kept me up the whole night before dispite being on Omeprazole.

Looking back I think my stress levels may have made it worse after my son was diven in to the back of his car by a van driver, not looking! :man_facepalming:
But he’s totally ok, and thats what matters.

I think stress levels can really make our side effects worse sometimes. So today I’ve took it easy .
Reiki tomorrow morning , looking forward to it :slightly_smiling_face:x

@tigertot welldone for advocating for yourself. You will have also helped others in the future have better service for cold capping.

The wig sounds fabulous.

Good morning all :kissing_heart:

Just wanted to ask a question. How many of you since starting chemo have experieced any blood clots? I do know of a couple of people (including myself as discovered on Thursday )
Luckily it is a superficial clot in the arm, and been put on blood thinners for 6 weeks (injecting twice a day). I’m yet to find out if this will effect chemo or not.

I’ve been told that it’s quite common during chemo, but no one actually tells you that until it happens to you. :woman_shrugging:

Just interested to see how many of us it’s happened to and how, if at all, has it effected your treatment so far?

(My chemo is just with a cannula, so no picc lines or ports involved) .

Hope you’re all coping ok with minimal side effects, and sending hugs to those who are struggling xx

I am on same regime and timing as you. 4the EC this week, nervous re P. Started Zolendronic acid early as tolerated EC well and it gave me a temp and achy eyes.

Juat got my 3rd EC today. Feeling ok, but prepared i might not sleep well tonight. My next ed is in 2 weeks so, im refusing to think about paclitaxel yet. Its a head in a sand thing for me, but I just want to get it done and over with EC first. Plus fue to size of it, oncology team will want abother MRI after EC is done and I cried last time, 45 bloody minutes in that machine was torture.

I’ve got a clot from the picc line (deep vein), also on the blood thinners for foreseeable future.
The oncologist said it wouldn’t affect the treatment but my liver values got high possibly because of the blod thinners and they had to cancel immunotherapy this week… Anyway, they are watching the values to see what impacts it

Noone said anything about possible clots at any point of time, so that’s annoying. Even though I’m not sure what I could do about it

Morning all,
yes, @tigertot
As you know I’ve got a picc line induced blood clot.
No mention of any risks when I had it in.
Had I have known would have look into it first, but everything moved do quickly.

@chita
Sorry your treatment delayed.
I’m having issues with low blood count at moment. Hopefully getting my 9th treatment
This week, my energy levels are so low struggling this week. Hate it as was always so active.
Hopefully your treatment will go ahead on next session.

Wishing everyone well this week x🄰

It’s one thing after another for you besides that traumatic experience you had the other week😢Am so sorry you’ve got a clot as well as @wba and @chita. It’s bad enough to go through chemo side effects and then this with more injections just doesn’t seem fair.

Am glad you’ve highlighted this, about blood clots during treatment and as a result of interventions like PICCs and Portacaths. I used to see a lot of this in my previous job so @everyone needs to be aware of this, keep moving and to keep well hydrated and to please report any odd redness and swelling around ports/lines arms and legs to your team.

Tying in with keeping hydrated- I found frozen fruits to chew/suck on, gummy sweets- I love Percy Pigs! and cordial with sparkling water if still water just didn’t taste nice.
Also…chewy/gummy sweets like Haribo/Percy pigs helped to lessen my frequent :poop: and firm them up.

I have discovered Sanpelegrino and Elderflower cordia as great alternative this past weekend to paarkiling wine for my birthday on Saturday,
as i gave up alcohol backnin January.
Frozen graves are my jam and surprisingly enough, even not very sweet watermelons are grast for hydration and they are cool for my mouth.
Squashables are my to go snack right now. I mix 2 different flavours one sour one sweet in the jar.

Hi All,

Hope everyone is doing ok and not suffering too much :crossed_fingers:

After a week of feeling royally fed up!I dragged myself along to a Look Good Feel Better skin/makeup workshop yesterday…If there is one thats available to attend by you I would highly recommend going,The people running it were very friendly and knowledgeable,And there were some lovely ladies in my session, came out feeling much less fed up-I left with a decent goody bag too

I have my penultimate round of Docetaxel tomorrow before I move onto to 3 rounds of EC…I am dreading them putting that box of Filgrastim in front of me again to go home with!!:rofl:

Sending lots of love and positive thoughts :sparkling_heart:
