February 2026 chemo starters

@fizar Hello Fiona! You are and a few of us are on TC! I had cycle 3 on the 18th Feb and awaiting one more on the 11th March. I was posting in the January thread but ended up in here more! How are you doing? x

I’m heading for my second session of EC next Thursday, I’m on day 17 and loosing a lot of my hair I’m hoping to hold out for round two before the big chop! During my first session of EC 10 minutes after I got extremely hot and weak and only started coming right after day 3. Did anyone else experience a hot sensation?

Hi @fizar yes you are and welcome! I’m in weekly paclitaxel started 6 February but was delayed last week as I’m neutropenic :frowning:. What’s your regime and how are you doing? We’re quite a mixed bag on here so whatever you’re on or want to know you should get some answers and company

Hia! Invasive br, Er &pR & Her2-.

Had lumpectomy Dec 17th. First chemo TC Feb 24th, i give myself the Dexamethasone jab on Feb 26th and after 3ach cycle; next chemo March 17th, Happy St Patricks Day! (I’m based in ireland).

Just curious how people are managing with side effects… it’s suppose to get worse, after each cycle…

Hi all. I started the her 2 regime on Tuesday. I’ve been really sick last night and today. Any ideas how long this could last? I feel so grim.

xx

@fizar So everyone is different with their side effects - I’ve managed to tick off a lot of them! - but honestly I’ve found you almost get into a routine with what to expect and I deal with them all by thinking they are only temporary. Right now on day 12 I’m at the spotty/burning face rash stage which again a lot of people don’t get (this round I’ve been treated to a stye on my eye too!), my taste and appetite are coming back gradually but after 3 rounds my fingers and nails are suffering pain/numbness wise. This was the first round I was sick so again it can change each time. The helpline did say to me the toxicity builds up though. Eyebrows and eyelashes are hanging in there at the moment! :slightly_smiling_face: x

My side effects so far aren’t too bad, but I’m trying not to anticipate next cycle effects. Right now, I feel like I’m being cattle prodded, with stabs of pain, headaches, diarrhea, no appetite, tummy aches but trying to eat a little x4 times a day, and keep hydrated. But other than that, I’m in great form, glad to have a start on it. Just have to take it one step at a time, and deal with effects as they happen including hair loss. My husband is away for the last 4 weeks but he’s s home next weekend. So all good, onwards and upwards. And I’ll be wearing me Paddy’s day outfit for next chemo!

Yes, they put conditioner on the roots which I wouldn’t normally do. I’ll just avoid washing it maybe a couple of days before a session and a couple of days after. I’ll attempt to persevere through it unless I think it’s a losing battle.

How long can the nausea last? Any tips? I can’t get out of bed today

Hi Ariella, I’m new to the forum so I hope it’s OK replying to you. I’m also on x4 cycles, x1 every x3 weeks. My first one was Frb 24th. Next one is March 17th. Had lumpectomy Dec 17th. The side effects aren’t as bad as I thought in one way but worse in another! .they’re more persistent, struggling to eat, body aching stabs…but just trying to take it one step at a time. I’m trying to avoid anticipating additional and/or increased side effects, including hair loss. But after the dexamethasone job, jazuz, spasms of pain at first but it seems to have died down a bit now.

@fizar Thats definitely the way to deal with the side effects as they’re unpredictable and the cattle prod is a perfect way of describing those pains! Cycle 3 and I’m getting more used to them but can’t say I’m looking forward to the final cycle! x

@angepange1 what regime are you on for her2? I get a herceptin (trastuzumab) injection every 3 weeks (alongside weekly chemo). Is that what you mean?

Hi @fizar that sounds about right! Keep up with your antisickness, pain relief for your bones and the salt and bicarb mouth wash has been a winner.

Are you cold capping to try and save your hair? I know me and @anncuk haven’t and we are baldies, but we do look like hot baldies! :fire: feel free to private message me if you have any questions, lots of love xxx

Hi @sam1204 , it’s the 3 weekly chemos and the injections. Phesgo, doxatacel, and others I can’t remember them all! This has made me very sick the last couple of days…. So day 3 , 4 and 5 after the chemo . The anti sickness hasn’t really worked xx

I’m dose dense for EC (2nd on Thursday) and P. What’s the most uncomfortable part you find about the cap?

You may find that it’s due to less contact at the nape. I have a very small head and I’m not sure that the cap is small enough for me, but I just had to surrender to getting hit best fit I could and not almost having a wobble. Unfortunately nurses are not best placed at getting the right fit, best thing to do is watch all the videos and make sure that you can get the best fit possible yourself ensuring that you get proper contact throughout your whole head to save as much hair as possible. Stick with it though as even it’s not as successful as you want it does protect your hair follicles and regrowth will be better.

With Daniel Field products it’s recommended to wash the same day of treatment to remove the scalp boosters. Personally of just using conditioner, because of how conditioner works by sticking conditioning agents (cationic) to the hair (and to the scalp if applied there) I’d definitely shampoo it out after treatment to reduce chances of irritation.

For me it’s the chin strap, it’s so tight and I find I can’t talk or eat without discomfort. I also just don’t like the constant pressure on the head.

Ok @angepange1 so quite different to me. Ref anti sickness, a doctor friend of mine said there are loads of different anti sickness drugs and if the one they’ve given you isn’t working insist on a different one. There will be one out there that works. They tend to start by giving us the cheapest one….

Sorry to hear you’re suffering, have you contacted your team as they should be able to review your meds and hopefully give you something else to help ease the nausea
