February 2026 chemo starters

Hi @rubytuesday I’m the same! Finished my last EC and starting Paclitaxel on Wed too, and yep this last cycle I’ve been way more emotional and fed up than normal. Feel like the fatigue has lingered this cycled. Good luck for Wed hope infusion goes well and side effects are kind x

Chemo twin! Good luck to you too. My oncologist told me 90% of people found paclitaxel much easier so hoping to be in that bracket. I’m dreading having to sit still for 6h, I could barely sit through a movie before all this so hoping the drugs knock me out (3h infusion plus cold capping)

I managed to get through the weekend without going to hospital thank goodness! Drinking loads and watching temp but also paracetamol in between. I’ve been so weak. Because I have ME and usually I can walk around the house but not further, with this side effect I couldn’t walk more than three steps. I’ve got a powered wheelchair so needed to use that to get to loo or kitchen. Thankfully my god daughter (who happened to be a nurse) came to help me as I couldn’t get food. My strength is now coming back. Still hot flushes and I can’t stop crying! I want to be well enough for chemo on Wednesday. That will be my half way mark. Anyone else keep crying? I’m on Pembro and taxol. Love to all xxx

Oh I’m having the cocoa in my porridge and I love it! Also bought cacao nibs.

Can totally empathise with this. Dog walks are my social life :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: but at least we’re getting into warmer months and this WILL be over for us soon.
Keep us posted on how Paclitaxel goes. I’ll be starting it next week.

Similar pattern for me although more tired , some side effects were slightly worse, sone slightly better. I think it helps knowing what to expect. The first cycle was a shock to the system. Wishing you luck x

Argh @rubytuesday so interesting I’ve decided not to cold cap anymore as genuinely don’t know how I could tolerate it for as long as the EC infusion. Do you find it’s worked well for you during EC? (I am sceptical and the hair is clinging on but not amazing and I almost don’t care anymore). Really hope it goes well for you on Wed considering how long you will be there

Yep I have a lot of hair left, I did start with a lot but most people say it’s not noticeable - I know it’s thinned but it’s clinging on, there’s a photo further up the thread. I’m powering through as think my daughter will find it hard to have a baldy mum when she’s just started high school.

Definitely not looking forward to it on Wednesday but just keep myself it’s a small amount of time in the grand scheme of things. Eyebrows and eyelashes are really thinning now

I bought La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5+and their facial mist but I’ll be honest, for me it hasn’t made much difference…there are some really good reports about it though  x

Thanks @anncuk . A friend of mine with historical bad skin (not from chemo) recommended the Efficlar Duo plus some moisturiser so I’ve gone for those. Should be able to pick up today so will report back how it goes. It might be my imagination but after 4 nights of antihistamines my face looks a tiny bit better today….

Hi all I hope you’re all doing well, having a bit of a panic about docetaxel! Very silly as I’m reading all the negatives instead of putting my big girl pants on and being brave. Just a vent, and boy I can’t wait for this to be over, the last ec knocked me around a bit last week, but moan over and bring on the summer

@barley1 i was the same with paclitaxel but I got very few of the side effects (so far :crossed_fingers:). It’s easy and normal to catastrophise. The reality is often not as bad as what we imagine ahead of it. Stay strong, you’ll be fine :flexed_biceps::+1:

Thank you, it’s hard not to isn’t it? I’m generally fit healthy and level headed but I’ve just started to get worked up about it, my youngest is still living with me and as good as he is I don’t want to put all my worries on him, big girl pants will be firmly in place by the time it comes around - I hope!

Do you know why some people are on weekly Paclitaxel vs fortnightly? (I’ll be fortnightly starting next week)

Is it something to do with the strength of the chemo on 2 week versus one and our bodies expected reactions and cancer type?I’m on 3 weekly docetaxel just after easter Tnbc clear margins

Weekly sounds way better. Lower dose over same period :joy:

I’m starting three weekly Docetaxel on the Tuesday after Easter as well. I know what you mean about the side effects. I’ve been so lucky with EC I keep feeling my luck’s going to run out and I’ll get everything . I’m just going to concentrate on one session at a time and see how things go x

Thare a good plan, I start on the 8th I should be used to this but it’s crazy how your mind can go off in random directions!

It’s so easy to feel overwhelmed by all this which is why I try (don’t always succeed ) to take things one step at a time. Seems more manageable like that
