Feeling alone - younger woman with TNBC

Hi everyone,

I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer (stage 2, grade 3) in early Feb 2026. I’m currently undergoing chemotherapy (12x Taxol/Carbo then 4x EC) and immunotherapy, followed by surgery.

I am 32 years old, I have a partner but no children (I’ve had emergency fertility preservation) and feel like I have been handling my diagnosis and treatment quite well, but there are days where I am just feeling so alone. Today has been one of those days, and I’ve been overwhelmed at how my life feels like it’s been turned on its head, how to deal with the wide ranging chemo side effects, the impact on my future family and career, and just generally not having anyone around me who truly understands. I guess I’m making this post to just reach out - are there any other younger women here who are going through similar treatment? Do you have any advice for the darker days? Are there any support groups you’d recommend? I’ve seen the younger women together groups but there aren’t any listed near me (Leeds)

Hi! Sorry to hear you’re going through this. I’m 35 and was diagnosed last February with stage 2 TNBC and went through the same treatment as you. I am now cancer free! You will get through it. AC was the toughest part for me. At the 6 months post chemo I’m finally feeling myself again and getting me spark back and so will you. Are you on Lupron? That is supposed to help protect the ovaries. I am part of the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Support group on Facebook which has been helpful. Let me know if you want to chat on WhatsApp. I live in California. Happy to answer any questions you have.

Hi @nicky I’m so sorry that you are having to go through such a challenging time so young, it seems so unfair to me but you sound as though you are handling it very well apart from a few, entirely understandable, down days.

I just wanted to point out that we have a special area on the forum for younger women which you can go to by pressing this link Younger women - Breast Cancer Now forum where you may find others who can give you the support you need.

Also, whilst they are not specifically for younger women, if you have a Maggie’s Centre anywhere near you (they are often attached to hospitals) you will find so much useful support there. Anecdotally, I know many people, myself included, who had a little weep when they first walked into a Maggie’s, mainly with relief for immediately feeling you’re somewhere that immediately understands. You can see the one nearest to you by putting your post code in here

Sending you a big old virtual hug.
