I am new to this site having been only diagnosed 2 weeks ago. I have had a lymph node biopsy and lumpectomy and am waiting for the results. Am constantly wobbling! Sometimes I’m so positive and others I may not last til Christmas. Find it hard to stay positive for my 15 year old daughter who now doesn’t want to leave my side. Family and friends have been wonderful but it’s only those that are/have been through it that know exactly how I feel.

Hi melly
I understand very well how you feel…as I’m sure most, if not all, the people on this forum do. The waiting really is the worst part, I’m waiting for the results of my second lumpectomy and my emotions are all over the place though I do have other issues causing me problems.
I just want to send you some (((hugs))) When do you get your results?
Maggie xx
Thank you, due to get my results on the 27th August but we are on holiday in the new forest then and I feel it’s important for my daughter that we go so the breast care nurse is trying to get results on the 23rd August. Feel so hot all the time and so need to talk about myself and my problems which I’m really not used to.
Hi Melly, sorry you have found yourself here but you will find this website helpful. Stick to this and MacMilian and don’t google stuff especially the American ones which are scary and not accurate. The nurses on this site are there to talk too and to answer questions and use your breast care nurse also. As everyone says the waiting bit in between is the worse and it happens in between each stage of your treatment programme.
I had 2 WLE’s ( wide local excursions) to get clear margins and a SNB ( sentinel node biopsy) but fortunately it had not spread but it was found to be a rare cancer ( mucinous carcinoma) and I have not heard of anyone else who has had it even after posting a thread on this site to enquire.
Was told if I was to pick one off the shelf this was the better one to have as it could be treated!.
Everyone’s cancer is different so don’t compare too much. Once you know what you have and your treatment plan it will be better no matter how silly that may seem at the moment. You can just get on with it and look to getting that nasty little b out as quickly as possible!.
Reality is you will have bad moments we all have, but take some reassurance you will get the best treatment . The NHS have been marvellous and I’m thankful I have had such clever people looking after me and look after yourself , keep away from anyone who has an infection as your immune system will be at a low ebb just now.
I spoilt myself went shopping, bought treats and my local cancer centre had complimentary therapies which I took advantage of in the early days and it helped a lot. Find out what you have locally and don’t be afraid of using it.
let us know how you get on, best wishes, Katy.
Hi I totally understand how ou are feeling and promise it will get better. Might get a bit worse before it gets better but it will get so much better when you know what your dealing with. I found the thread inspirational stories a great source of comfort when I felt really down. Perhaps a visit there might give you some strength hope inspiration for your own journey. X
Thank you everybody, support has been marvelous. It’s such a change of lifestyle for the whole family. My daughter is having panic attacks my husband is doing most of the housework as well as doing a full time job. I pray it will get better soon. It suprises me how different everyones cancer is so I’m not reading too much as I scare myself or raise my hopes too much. will use this forum a lot over the coming months and glad I’ve found them.
