i am 5 months post chemo and radiotherapy. Throughout Chemo and after sepsis I suffered from an imbalance in body temperature, but mainly I was hot from flushes.
i am on tamoxifen and my flushes have calmed down to 3-5 a day but the coldness I am experiencing is awful. It doesn’t matter how many layers I wear or sleep wrapped up with a heated blanket I just can’t warm up.
i have read about thyroid imbalances after treatment and I am being tested for this, I just wondered if anyone else had experienced the same thing? I mentioned to my oncologist but he didn’t want to know and spoke over me saying he didn’t know.
I am always either too hot or freezing cold, rarely seem to get a comfortable temperature. So I have to ask friends if they are cold/hot before I adjust the heating and roast or freeze them. I’m blaming lack of oestrogen for wrecking my body thermometer - but could be the drugs/menopause/who knows.
Good you are being checked and hopefully you will get the reassurance you need. Maybe your body will settle down?
Hi Loulinen, know how you feel. The rads team did warn me to look out for the unexpected as they said bloods alter with the toxins and the effects of radiotherapy. The skin gets thin so we burn in the sun. I am always cold, and the central heating I’ve noticed is on much more than previously. In addition, my thyroid meds have been increased each year. I do keep a fluffy blanket on the couch in the living room, and I have slipper boottees in the winter. It’s the constant buying to keep comfortable that makes me mad. More jumpers, socks, fluffy pjs and really good boots for the winter. My Onco wasn’t dismissive of my queries, but certainly pointed me towards my GP. I guess if it isn’t cancer related then that’s the route to take. X
Maybe it is the Tamoxifen. I’m certainly feeling cold far more than I used to. Heating going full pelt and, rugs, throws, scarves galore. Then , of course, you get a hot-flash and have to rip it all off - lol. I am investing in all-things-cosy and it is a great excuse for some indulgence shopping. Well that’s my excuse .
I feel the opposite, I am always really warm, I was born without a thyroid gland, so theoretically I should be cold.
I had acupuncture all the way through my treatments, and I continue to do so. My Acupuncturist has told me keeping warm is important, as heat keeps the blood circulating. I also drink lots of warm drinks and hot water with lemon, which helps.
