Feeling hopeless

Can I ask how you’re getting on ? X

Hey!

Gosh, it feels a lifetime ago since I wrote this message!

A year on and I am in a MUCH better place

I had an extreme skin reaction to my first immunotherapy. It was worrying and I thought I may have to stop treatment…however, 5 days afterwards, my tumor had shrunk away and it had also gone on the MRI scan. So for me, immunotherapy was a miracle worker, and I was able to continue the rest of my treatment without major issue.

Like most people, there were curveballs along the way and I found there was also a small area of Her 2 cancer. However, luckily the triple neg treatment also managed to get rid of this cancer too.

I had a PCR and have finished all my active treatment now. I’m having a year of herceptin as a precaution because of the Her 2 area, but luckily no side effects to that.

I’ve recently restarted work and my family and I are in the stage of processing everything and trying to find our normality again!

Because of my response I’m in a lower risk for recurrence, so I’m just keeping my fingers and toes crossed. If I think too hard about the future, I can have panicky moments. But it is true what they say, time does help and I generally feel quite positive about the future.

Sorry this is a bit of a novel length reply, but I wanted to hopefully offer reassurance to anyone reading my initial post, that there is hope and things can and do get better

Thanks for the update and pleased you are doing well.

There is a very active and supportive thread for HER2+ as treatment continues for at least a year. If you would like to join, here is the link.

Take care

Thank you so much, from someone who needs this.

All the very best to you and your family. x
