Feeling really down

Hi

I was diagnosed in august with invasive lobular carcinoma,Grade 2 I was originally told 2.5cm and had a lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy in October. My breast surgeon told me I had no lymph node involvement but I also did not have clear margin. This resulted in mastectomy 4 weeks ago.
The results showed 40mm Upto 50mm according to the BS and 2 foci . The oncologist told me I had minimal lymph node involvement (not none ) and possibly more than 50mm which has upset me.Why would the breast surgeon say no involvement and a smaller size . Also because of the size I may have to have chemo but I have also been told chemo doesn’t work well for lobular.

I am feeling very confused and scared.

Has anyone had lobular that big and had a good outcome ?  And lived for a long time .I am 51 and I have a lot more living to do although Right now I am feeling rock bottom.

sorry for being all half glass empty but I need to vent .

What type of cancer is E.g. is it HER2 or ER/PR +?

I have lobular cancer and had a lumpectomy in August, all my lymph nodes were clear but because I’m HER2+ I’ve had to have chemo. My chemo is basically mopping up any stray cells and I’m having Herceptin which is the drug that targets the HER2.
That may help you understand the need for chemo
