Feeling unwell and shouldn't have googled symptoms!

Sorry, I’m in total meltdown and probably worrying about nothing. I’ve been feeling dreadful for a few weeks (constantly tired, always thirsty, bit of joint pain) Saw my gp tonight and he’s ordered full bloods and liver, kidney and thyroid function tests but made me really nervous as his first question after my moan was “do you have any new lumps or discomfort?” I was actually rather enjoying going to see someone about a mundane health problem and had made no link to my breast cancer at all.
But the honest answer is yes, I’ve had a pain in my collarbone which was there before I was diagnosed, is still there and I don’t have the balls to tell anyone!
So I google breast cancer/thirst and come up with high calcium levels in blood caused by bone mets. I’m having my first mamogram on Monday and realise now that I have to mention the little collarbone pain (and it really is just a niggle)
I’m so worried but I do know that all my symptoms could still be caused by something quite mundane. Not really sure how anyone can help but feel better already for writing it down!

Kate - we all worry about aches and pains and we always will. This illness makes us all permanent hypochondriacs.

If you had the pain before it is likely to be nothing. Your GP is being extra cautious and has not linked the pain to BC otherwise would not be doing the tests for you. Mention it to your gp when you get your results and then you can hopefully forget about it

I am sure you will be fine but I cant tell you not to worry - if you are anything like me - you will do so anyway.

Thinking of you

Kate - major hugs. Not even going to slap your wrist for googling symptoms, of course you did. Now, take some deep, deep breaths. You’re going to be checked out… and chances are that you are going to be fine. You can and will deal with it.

Thank you both, feeling less wobbly now and will chat about the collarbone pain at my follow up on Monday. Should just be grateful that my gp is so thorough! Will try not to worry, thanks again and hope you’re both keeping well

Sorry your feeling so grotty Kate, I think we are always going to worry about every ache and pain I too have the thirst thing, my onc said she had never heard anyone have that problem before, but I started a thread and there are quite a few others with the same thing on tamoxifen, so maybe it is just a rare SE, I hope it turns out to be nothing for you, and stay away from Google - unless its for shopping purposes only!

Take care x

Hi there

It is horrible all this worrying about things. Great though that you’ve got a GP who is listening and is running some tests to rule things out. I had been feeling tired and my GP did the same - it didn’t show anything so they now think it’s the tamoxifen making me feel like this.

I do hope you feel better soon and that your results all come back clear.
take care, Elinda x
