Fibroadenoma removal - help

Hi

I am 33 and have had a fibroadenoma for 7 years. It has had an ultrasound 3 times and because I am now over 30 I was offered a biopsy. I was at the breast clinic for something else which was all fine and they offered to do it for “reassurance purposes” but advised nothing concerning on ultrasound. Since then I have received a call to advise me that they want me to come in to discuss removing, the secretary told me the consultant told me not to worry and they have not found anything concerning.

I am just wanting to hear other peoples positive (if possible as I am anxious) experiences with having their fibroadenoma removed and the reasons why this was offered. Until my appointment I wont know if this is just an option or whether it is recommended and if so, why which is causing a little worry.

Thank you

Hello @barony92
Sorry to hear of your situation.
I dont know about fibroadenoma however having been in the system and many appointments across various parts of the NHS what i would say is that sometimes they make a decision to remove as a preventative measure. Its easy for them to say nothing to worry about but we still wory anyway and sometimes realise that we didnt need to. Hopefully your appointment is soon so your questions will be answered.
