I brought home my Filgrastim injections today following chemo and i very stupidly forgot to put them in the fridge at home. Ive put them in now but they have probably been out the fridge for about 5 hours. Can anyone tell me if this will be ok?? Thanks so much!
Hi, it will be fine as the nurses told me they could be kept out of fridge up to 24 hours so not to panic if I done the same. Double check your patient information leaflet in your box as it will most likely have a storage information section, but I’d imagine all the brands of it will be the same. Just answering this as I know the nurses won’t be able to answer for a couple days now
I did the same and was told it was fine xx
Hello laurapts
Thank you for posting.
Although Filgrastim injections should be stored in the fridge, as @jayesse and @belle1 have both said, leaving it out for just a few hours should not cause any harm.
However, you may want to contact your chemotherapy department or the hospital pharmacist just to check they don’t have a particular time frame.
