I Finished Chemo in January, had s mastectomy in February and had my 18th and last, shot of Herceptin this week. But I feel absolutely shattered. I have arthritis in my Shoulders, stiff and aching legs and I am just really tired. I keep thinking I need to exercise to get energy But I am struggling to find the energy to start exercising. I returned to teaching full time in September and I am dreading going back after the Christmas hols! Anyone else having Herceptin feeling like this xx
Ali
So glad to hear that you have finished your herceptin, a great milestone, but sorry to read of the problems you are having, it has been a long slog for you my friend. Hopefully one of the other ladies will come on soon to offer advise post herceptin
Is there any way that you can perhaps reduce your hours for a while to see if that will help you?
Sending you hugs
Helena xxxx
Hi Helena, thanks for replying and I hope you are doing ok. I am ok most of the time and to be honest I would rather go to work and pay to get my cleaning done at home etc. But yes I am thinking of an alternative solution to full time teaching. The teaching is not a problem it’s the endless other stuff that we as teachers, are expected to do that is! Xxx
I promise it gets better! Seriously it will take a while so keep on with the Claratin hayfever tablets and get yourself on to some good quality Omega 3.
I take a couple of these a day amazon.co.uk/Minami-Nutrition-MorEPA-Platinum-Softgels/dp/B00OOUZO62/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1546787161&sr=8-
I was lucky in that I did not have to go back to work so I could recover slowly and take walks and fresh air when I wanted to hence a lot less stress. Oh and download a meditation app and do about 5 to mins a day just sitting and chilling out. Have a look at this:
it is free and so good for your mental/emotional well being.
Hi Ali, glad to hear that your Herceptin is done and dusted. Hopefully you will start to feel better as the days lengthen and spring comes around. You’ve been through a lot. I know that I couldn’t cope with full time work right now.
I’ve got number 16 tomorrow should have been last week but I had a horrible flu like cold. Can’t wait to be done.
Hope work is kind when you go back, your health is precious think about reducing your hours xx
Thank you Blue Ash and Chaffinch. I will look at those supplements. Here I am off work again with a chest infection and water infection. So frustrating!!! I am hoping that the further away that I get from Herceptin the better I will feel. Hope you are both ok and Chaffinch hope you have recovered from the flu xxx
Hi Ali, sorry that you’re feeling poorly and hope you get better soon x I think you’re amazing to be back teaching full-time! I’ve reduced my hours to a day and a half a week and still struggle to keep up with the planning and marking and find I’m going into school on days off to keep up with it all! I’ve still got neuropathy in my toes and fingers and feel quite stiff at times and find the job physically and mentally tiring xx
I know Jencat but I think I will have to reduce my hours. Not keeping up at all xx
Hi Ali,
just wondering how you are now? Hopefully your feeling better? Have been told I will need herceptin…dreading it…xx
