First 6 month review next week - what should I expect - triple negative

My first follow up with the oncologist is next week - any suggestions of what I can expect or request

When I was diagnosed and going through treatment the appointments were quite fast - well after the 2 hour wait!! And no details on what triple negative actaully means and meant for me.

Dont know whether I am imaginng things but starting to really feel very fatiqued and also aches everywhere of course mind in overspin wondering if things to worry over

appreciateicate any comments / support

I take it you have finished chemo. Are you going to have rads? I haven’t found any of my follow ups very useful. They are over in a flash. Onc asks how I’m feeling usually checks scar and whats left of my breast and feels along the collar bone and then says he’ll see me in 3 months. He also asks each time whether he has prescribed any hormone treatment and every time I tell him he has to which he says he must make a note but obviously never does.

I look on it as a reassurance time I feel ok he obviously thinks things are ok so that is fine. Don’t know if it is different for triple neg though as I am pos. for everything. Good luck

Hi yes all treatment finished last year I completed radiotherapy in October this is my six month checkup after every part of cancer has been completed.

Hi Booksnadwine,

I can totally relate to the aches and fatigue before attending follow up appointments. Fairly sure that this is normal for the first couple of years. It’s hard to stop the gremlins when you have to go back to see the oncs etc.

My cancer was ER and PR+, but HER-, so not triple neg. Do you have any questions you want to raise yourself? If so, why not write them down on a piece of paper to take with you. I always take my daughter with me when I go to appointments, and she records the conversation I have with my medical team. I then listen to the recording and then fire off any questions I feel I need answers to via e-mail to my BCN. I’m sure I’m def not her favourite person! But it does make me feel more in control and gives me peace of mind. The consultations are over in a flash, so it’s difficult to remember everything you’ve been told. My daughter sends the recorded consultations straight to my iPad, so I can listen to them at any time.

Hope this is of some help. Take care. Ann x x x
