First appointment with clinical oncology clinic instead medical oncology clinic

Hi everyone,

Hope you are all doing well.

My mum had first an appointment with medical oncology clinic 2 weeks ago but no treatment plan were discussed as they were waiting for HER2 results.

Tomorrow finally she got an appointment but to see the clinical oncology clinic instead medical oncology clinic.

I know that with clinical oncology clinic, they do both systemic therapy and radiotherapy.

Has anyone got an idea why the appointment is this time with a clinical oncologist instead medical oncologist

@sshini93 I saw both… my medical oncologist will focus on systemic treatments, so chemo, immunotherapy and other drug based treatments. My clinical oncologist specialises in radiotherapy, which I will have after my chemo.

Your mum’s MDT may be considering both. Or it may be that your mum’s pathology report is back and has determined that chemo is not required, but radiotherapy is.

The best thing to do is call your mum’s BCN. They will be able to help, I’m sure. Lots of love to you and your mum. :kissing_heart:
