I have had sciatic pain since Oct last year. X-ray showed degenerative changes of the sacroilliac joint but I wasn’t getting any better with physiotherapy, so I had an MRI last week. My GP phoned this morning and confirmed that there were deposits at the joint which radiologist says are highly suggestive of bone mets. My GP has got me an urgent referral with my oncologist and I should be seeing him on Friday afternoon.
Please could you give me an idea of what I can expect from a first appointment following diagnosis with bone mets. Also, what are the questions you think I should ask.
If anyone else has mets in that region I would be interested to hear about your expereinces.
Still shell shocked.
Thanks,
Cherry
Hi,cherry,so sorry to hear your news no wonder your shell shocked. I have mets in my pelvis same place as you as well as ribs and spine.I was put on zometa every three weeks to strengthen bones because of the mets. And hormone treatment. Your treatment will depend on what treatments you have had and your er status or HER status . I was diagnoses with primary and mets from start about 7 months ago so I was put onto tamoxifen but now I’ve been on letrozole. No chemo yet.
There are lots of treatments out there to keep us stable and you will receive LOTS of advise and support from the ladies on this site.
Sending you a huge hug and good luck with your appointments,Helen xxxxxx
Ps write down any questions you have and take it to appointment. Also having someone with you to ask questions if you are unable to(I cried so hubby had to do asking)
