I had my first cycle of FEC-T on 3 May and I have been suffering with very bad nausea. I am on Ondansetron and Metoclopramide but they don’t seem to be helping. I can’t sleep and most of the day I am gagging but not actually throwing up. Any idea when this feeling of sickness will subside, what can I do and can I ask to try other anti sickness tablets. I am not eating much because of the nausea which is making me tired and weak. Help…
Hello,
This is exactly what happened to me - nausea and no sleep. I really understand what that feels like. Poor you. I took Ond and Met beyond what was written on the prescription, but did this with my chemo nurse’s advice, I didn’t just take them without talking to her. That helped a bit. For me, the nausea suddenly stopped after about day 5. I told my oncologist at the next appointment and she prescribed Aprepitant (Emend®) for the next cycles and that really worked. See if you can get that for next time. Try to drink lots, I’m sure you are, and eat what you fancy. For me, in those first days, it was tinned pears, cereal and cheese on toast! Keep up your energy with your eating if you can. The nausea goes, it really does!
