First IDC now told I have bowel cancer

Hi, I had a mastectomy for IDC in December. Axillary node clearance took 17 nodes with 6 positive nodes. Had a staging CT scan which showed a thickening on my bowel. Today I had a colonoscopy and they’ve diagnosed bowel cancer. They think it’s a new primary.

I feel like my world has been turned upside down. I’ve had no bowel symptoms at all & without the breast cancer I wouldn’t have known.

2 weeks await for histology results. Terrified doesn’t quite cover it.

I needed a clear colonoscopy to get the go ahead for chemo. Now life feels very uncertain.

Oh @2kittens I’m so sorry I cant imagine how terrifying this is for you. Talk about 1 thing after another. I have read other posts here in the forum of people who have found other primary cancers following these scans. If you had no symptoms, I’m no expert but that’s got to be a super early find. You are fully in the system now and I’m certain they will fix you up. Stay strong, keep positive and do everything you can to keep your head on straight. You can get through this :heart::heart:

It was measuring 40mm and is half the width of my bowel. It’s not small at all. I have never in my life wished for bowel cancer before, if this is breast mets I’m not quite sure how I’ll cope

Bless you. Of course you will cope @2kittens you will have a team of people that will know exactly the treatment plan to get you on. And once they get those results I’m sure things will move fast. Sending you the biggest hugs possible
