Dear bettyboop1,

We are all here for you, so sorry to read that you have lost your darling daughter to cancer, also your mum, no wonder you are feeling anxious and frighten.

Take each day as it’s come, maybe call the hospital before your appointment, to put them in the picture of what you have been through, I’m sure they will be there to comfort you.

Wishing you a good outcome, please let us know how you are getting on.

Much love Tili :pray::rainbow::pray::rainbow:

Firstly, welcome to the forum.

I’m so sorry to hear of your loss and both to cancer. I can understand your anxiety. Having any screening and waiting for results can be scary. I’ve only had 1 mammogram in the screening programme and it came back clear. I was due to have another screening but was late due to Covid and I found a lump. Being breast aware is as important as screening.

As far as your anxiety as already said, let the staff know how you feel. All of the staff who have performed multiple mammograms on me having been so kind and caring. I sure you will experience the same.

Hi Bettyboop1
I’m so sorry that you lost your little girl and mum to cancer. It’s such a cruel disease and my heart goes out to you. I suffer from social anxiety and all I can say is that the NHS staff and Breast Care team did everything they could to put me at ease. They were kind, patient and listened. Talk to them, and like someone else suggested ring them before and explain your situation.
I’m sure you’ll be ok, most of us are. please keep us updated. Take good care.

Hello

Fear is never easy to manage particularly if you have had family or close friends go through illnesses

I’m so sorry that you’ve lost precious people

Is there a particular part of the screening that worries you or the outcome?

Either way talk to the hospital and radiologist and they will try to allay your fears

Having a mammogram is relatively quick and painless, more uncomfortable even if you have small or big boobs than painful but try not to build the anxiety by learning and asking questions beforehand

This site has information on what happens ( use the search) and you can call the nurses on here too if needed

Good luck
