Flu vaccs during chemo

Hi!

I start chemo in 2 weeks - my 3 year old daughter had her flu vacc last week, but I’m just wondering whether I should be having flu jab before my first cycle or whether you can have it once you’ve started?

Thanks for any help!

@rbf I was advised to have flu jab before starting chemo. Best to check with nurses as to how close to starting chemo you can have it, though.

Hi rbf

Thank you for your post.

As @nib32 says, usually those that are due to start chemotherapy will have the flu vaccination before they start treatment. Do contact your breast care nurse or treatment team to check if you can book to have this done. You can find more information about the different types of flu vaccine on the previous link. It’s important that you read this ahead of getting vaccinated.
