Hello, I had bilateral Mx on Sept 6 with tissue expanders. Had drains, left side got clogged, then it finally started draining a lot of milky brown fluid on 9/26. It slowed down but the opening to the drain in my skin got infected so they removed the drains on 9/30. Since then I’ve been getting a lot of fluid build up in the breast area. I’ve read a lot about a seromas (dont think that’s what this is) but I’m just wondering how normal is this? It’s significant… almost looks like I never lost any tissue!

sounds like a seroma please phone your team so they can drain it for you after they’ve checked you over Shi xx
Hi marydubya,
Thanks for posting.
After surgery fluid can build up in the area. This can be a seroma which you have read about. A haematoma can also form. Swelling can also occur as a reaction to the procedure or because of infection.
As @Shi says do let your treatment team know about this. They can assess the area and either reassure you that this is normal post op swelling or suggest what else could be the cause and whether any further action is required.
You may want to post in this section of our forum and here are the details of all our services.
