Hi all
Does anyone have or had a swollen abdomen caused by fluid retention. I have had wierd symptons on and off for a few months, chest pains, sore rib, fatigue most of the time, breathless and now a huge belly.
I have had in the past as well as bc in feb 07 had pulmonary embolism in march 08. The doc just seems con cerned about me getting another clot but i dont feel it is that. Any suggestions anyone.
Am off for another chest xray tommorrow.

Poor you - sounds horrible.
I think you need to be seen by your oncologist and given a full MOT to see what is happening. To me, this sounds a very medical question and none of us here can give you that sort of advice you need at present. Sorry!!
Really hope you find a cause for this problem and don’t stop asking questions till you are satisfied

not sure if this is the same but I had bad ( intermittant ) rib pain and bloated stomach on taxol - onc said it was an irritated stomach lining caused ( probably) by steroids and gave me some lansoprazole tablets , which have really helped …
What were the signs of the pulmonary embolism that you had before?

No symptons for PE last time was just breathlessness which one day got so bad i went to a&e and didnt come out for 2 weeks.
The wobbly belly is now extending to my thighs.
I went to the doc on Thurs and she sent me for a n xray of my chest on Fri. Just waiting for results.
Feeling like mr Blobby at the mo.
Will ring before the easter hols to see if results are back.

I also have a lot of fluid retention and a distended belly after BC treatment in '07…feel like it just keeps getting worse…curious to understand the cause so I can start to find solutions…interested to hear what others have experienced.
