Follow up appointment tomorrow

Hi all its 21 years since i had a mastectomy and LD Reconstruction with implant. Recently i had multiple core biopsies on a lumpy area previously diagnosed as fat necrosis but not biopsied. Just diagnosed on Ultrasound. This time they couldnt tell what it was with the Ultrasound so advised biopsies. Anyway its results day tomorrow and im hoping I wont be going down the cancer route again. Not really looking for advice but just wanted to tell someone as no one to really talk to and just wanted to tell someone im a little bit worried. Im not a good talker! Thanks for listening!

Hi @susynight
Thank you for posting, there’s lots of people on here, reading and listening . I’ll join you as I’m going for my biopsy results tomorrow too. I completely get and understand why you’re feeling twitchy.

Are you going solo to your appointment ? Keeping everything crossed for the both of us.

Hi tuttifruitti thanks for your reply. I am yes, going on my own. I prefer to do everything on my own much to those around me’s annoyance! Im expecting it to be more fat necrosis or maybe silicone leak but theres always that niggling feeling from the last time which came as a total shock at the time. They couldnt tell what it was on u/s.
I hope your results are ok tomorrow and we can celebrate nad in the evening! Good luck and ill be thinking of you. A trouble shared is a trouble jalved as they say :crossed_fingers::crossed_fingers:everything crossed x

They have rescheduled me for Wednesday morning, wanting to do further tests on biopsies. I’m starting to really worry now.

Oh what a worry for you. Hopefully its further tests because its not clearly breast cancer.

Hi @susynight

Let’s hope it’s an extra check to make sure it really is nothing sinister. However, if it does turn out to be BC, things have moved on so much since your previous treatment - moved on since mine in 2021.

A problem shared is a problem halved. I hope we’ve taken a weight off your shoulder.

Good luck on Wednesday. Let us know how you get on.

Im back and so is cancer! I cant believe it after 21 years i have a recurrence. Its not what i was expecting at all. Scans and surgery planned for next few weeks. Theyre hoping its just local but ill probably be having radiotherapy after.

@susynight I’m so sorry to hear that. I hope they crack on with a treatment plan. How are you feeling? Xxxx

Bit shocked to be fair but ok. I know i can cope so just need to crack on i guess. Thanks though x

@susynight you’re bound to be in shock. Cancer is so common now, it’s hard to avoid it, but as another member said technology has advanced so much in the last 20 years. I think what I’m understanding from these forums is that there is a lot of limbo waiting at certain points, which frankly isn’t good for our mental health, waiting for confirmation, waiting for body scans, waiting on operation outcomes. I hope you take care of yourself, and as well as this site you have some trusted people you can turn to. Thinking of you xxxx

I’m 66 and was diagnosed with a new breast cancer last December, 17 years after my first one. This one is unrelated, not a recurrence, a totally different type. I have been quite calm this time around, as you say you know you will cope. During the waiting and worrying years I used to think that if it came back it would destroy me mentally, but it hasn’t been like that. I have approached it with a positive attitude, as another poster said treatments and attitudes have moved on in leaps and bounds although I can’t fault the treatment I had before. It was initially thought I wouldn’t need chemo but then I had one of those Oncotype DX tests and the score was 29, so treatment it was. I am nearly at the end of a 12 week cycle of (weekly) paclitaxol and carboplatin and although there have been some bumps in the road I’m getting there. Can’t have radiotherapy again as it’s the same breast, but I had a mastectomy this time (lumpectomy before) and will have Letzerole for 5 years. Nothing after radiotherapy last time as it was a triple negative.
Hold on in there. Head down and get on with your treatment. You know there will be sunnier days ahead

Hi thanks for replying and yes hopefully better days ahead for you🤞. I feel like id been so long after my first diagnosis in 2004 that im starting afresh! I dont know much about what type mine is but they are saying lumpectomy and probably radiotherapy. They didnt mention chemo but i guess they may depending on the rest of the scans and tests before my surgery.

Hi supeal, did you have radiotherapy last time? I was told that I couldn’t have radiotherapy twice on the same breast, hence the mastectomy and extra Oncotype DX test as belt and braces, good job I did as the score indicated that I would benefit from chemo even though it was a grade 2 stage 1 cancer and not huge. Anyway, no doubt the tests and scans will show you the bigger picture in the coming days and weeks, this is the worst part as you know, the waiting. Keep us all posted and good luck xx

No just mastectomy and recon as it was high grade DCIS and clear lymph nodes. Different this time as its grade 2 invasive but not in breast tissue as i havent any in that side. Apparently its in the implant envelope whatever that is!!

Hi everyone,
I cannot find how to start my own topic so unfortunately have to jump on the end of here! Sorry!
I found a lump in my breast 2 weeks and 1 day ago. My GP referred me to breast clinic and i was seen yesterday.
I was examined, had an ultrasound and also 3 biopsies taken from the lump.
The sonographer who scanned me and took the biopsies said you are 30 years old it will probably just be a fibroadenoma but we will biopsy to be sure.
When i went back to the consultant he showed me the scan, it was a well rounded oval shape MOSTLY and then the bottom right of the mass was irregular, it looked almost like a little iceberg sitting on this oval, and it looked a different shade on the scan also. He said all of this id say is not worrying, its just thjs bit down here.
I havent read about many irregular shaped fibroadenomas so im thinking its now highly unlikely thats what it is?
I dont feel worried waiting for results. I had convinced myself i had cancer before breast clinic anyway, sailed through clinic and walked out relieved that everything was underway.
I just would like to know if anyone has had similar please xxxx
