I had a very similar experience to yours re bad hospitals. I got the same feelings re dirty facilities from their toilets. They also failed to diagnose my cancer so I went to a different hospital which was a breast cancer centre of excellence recommended by a friend who had had breast cancer a few years earlier.
They had more up to date treatments and were much better than my original hospital although I would by lying if I said I wasn’t devastated by the diagnosis, but then again I hadn’t been happy with the way things were going before - it took six months to get my diagnosis and that was after my lump was removed.
Despite this my prognosis is very good. Like you I had a small tumour, mine was slightly bigger than yours at 1.9 cm but I also had something called DCIS which is pre-cancer. I am still here 5 years later
