Found a breast lump - scan 4 weeks ago but now this

Hi, so tearful and scared as I write this :pensive:

I am 38, have one beautiful daughter -16, and didn’t breast feed and am not on any contraception.

So for weeks I’ve been experiencing random pains in my right breast. I had a breast specialist a month ago, mammogram and ultrasound of both breasts and all was ok.

However upon being breast aware and doing my checks. I was feeling my left breast, not the painful one, and squeezed it and felt a very palpable lump, the scary thing is I wouldn’t feel it doing my normal breast exam unless laying down, pushing harder or squeezing.

I’m so so scared :cry:I feel silly that so much time was focused on the right breast and that the left one was probably just skimmed and they’ve missed this.

I have been referred to a breast clinic after an online drs consultation so I am waiting for that to come through, but of course I’ve googled and given its placement, 12 o clock position above nipple, and it’s feel I have already talked myself into the worst

Thank you for your reply, I managed to get in to a private breast clinic today and after the scan have seen it’s a solid lump and done a core biopsy

I’m so sorry, Nicky, but a lot of benign things can be a solid lump, too. Hopefully you’ll get your results soon and can put this behind you. But either way, you’re not alone and we’ll be here if you need us.

Thank you so much for your reply. It was a crazy as I only had scans a month ago so although was scared was hoping the dr wouldn’t be concerned.

How long do results usually take to come back? I’m in such a panic as have a holiday booked in just over two weeks and already thinking I’m going to have to cancel

Hi Nicky,
I’m sorry to hear that you are experiencing this.
When I was going through the diagnosis stage I had 6 biopsies. 5 of them, including 2 core biopsies were found to be non cancerous.
I hope that yours turns out to be non cancerous.
I found that results were usually 2 weeks.

The waiting is truly awful. My advice is treat yourself as kindly as you can especially whilst you wait for results.

Thank you for your reply. I’m trying to stay in the moment and be strong. The words solid lump made me feel so much more anxious! How are you doing now? Xxx

Nicky, well done, for getting the ball rolling we all have to look after ourselves and push for the best treatment we can get.

Fingers crossed for the best outcome

Good idea staying in the moment. It’s not easy though.

I’m doing ok thanks. There are so many treatment options now that were not there before and I feel thankfull for that.

I am also lucky to have a good support network around me.

Best of luck and I hope that you have the support that you need.

Take care x

UPDATE
So my biopsy results from my lump have come back benign :tada:
I’m so relieved… however still worried about this flipping rash - also just feeling in the weird place as have been living in this world of anxiety for a week and finding it hard to believe it’s all ok! Not sure if it’s the rash making me feel like that

Thank you to all who commented and sent good luck and also who helped me through with their lovely words :two_hearts:
