Found a lump but nothing on U/S

I found a a lump about the size of a golf ball on my left breast. Im having discharge from my nipple and nipple pain. My breast swells and gets hot. But it is starting to hurt to put my bra on. Im only 35 so they say im to young. I know something is wrong. I had a mammogram and a ultrasound they say my breast are dense but everything is normal. My GP is going to make me an appointment with a Breast specialist but Im just tired of waiting. My grandmother and great grandmother both had breast cancer. Has anyone else went through this?

Hi Saniyah,
I’m glad to see your GP has referred you again.
The issue of your age has nothing to do with it, yes, it’s unlikely to be bc, but that’s not the point, you need answers.
Were you offered a biopsy of the lump? If it is not clear what it is on ultrasound, it is usual practice for the clinic to do this.
It maybe also be worth asking about an MRI scan, as mammograms in younger women are not necessarily that helpful in getting a diagnosis, as the breast tissue is dense - as you’ve been told, therefore, an MRI is usually recommended in this situation.
I do hope you get this resolved soon & let us know how you get on.
If you need ro talk it through, there is also the bcc helpline 0808 800 6000

I haven’t been offered a biopsy or MRI yet. I guess the breast specialist will do that.
