Fright at Breast Clinic - positive outcome may help some people

Hi;
Just in case this helps anyone…
I had mastectomy 2 years ago - Grade 1 stage 1 no nodes but 4 little tumours hence mastectomy. Recovery ok the usual ups and downs serum etc but ok.
I had a bit of shooting pain about 4 weeks ago over the mastectomy area it was intermittent and went as quickly as it came and the breast team suggested I go to the breast clinic to get reassurance and also to get my mammogram as I was due it in a couple of weeks anyway. So went in and had a very thorough examination (which I hated but its got to be done) and the junior doctor who was very nice said she felt an enlarged lymph node in the mastectomy side axilla (cue me nearly choking with fright) she didn’t think it was anything to worry about and thought it may be because I am very slim /low bmi that she could feel it. Anyway she wanted me to go for ultrasound and mammogram. Had the mammogram first then the ultrasound. The lovely lady doing the ultrasound said she couldn’t see anything untoward and could see ribs! anyway back I went to the waiting room and the doctor said as she thought all was fine no issues with Mammo and no issues with ultrasound and she thinks she only felt it because there wasn’t much fat there, it was the best laxative known to man! She also said she wanted to check with the consultant I didn’t need a CT scan (that triggered me too!) and thankfully no I didn’t (that would have been going above and beyond thorough!) Anyway I thought I would be ecstatic but that evening I just cried and cried and I think I had been slightly triggered by the lymph node and it just took me back to the breast recall/biopsy etc. Am feeling a lot happier now but just wanted to say not everything turns out badly and there may be other reasons for things showing up. The pain they think may be scar tissue or a pulled muscle but because it comes and goes and really doesn’t bother me too much they aren’t worried and said “you know we are here if you need us”.

Lots of love to you all xx

So sorry you have been through all this. I’m really glad they took your concerns seriously, did all the necessary checks for you and they sound like they reassured you really well. Thank you for this positive story :heart:
