Anyone, what sort of tests do you have during chemotherapy between cycles or after chemo and before radiotherapy?
Include your cancer stage. I don’t know my own stage. I have grade 3, estrogen 8 high, prog low, ki67 >30% I have cancer in LN, 1 node macro 2.5mm extracaps spread 1mm, unknown how many LN cancerous.
Do you get tests to check for cancer left in the body?
The only test I had during chemo (other than the pre treatment bloods for each cycle) was a follow up heart scan for an issue found at my pre chemo Echocardiogram which wasn’t necessarily related to the cancer. I had no other scans or anything during chemo or between chemo and radio (other than the radiotherapy planning scan) I finished radio last week.
I had Grade 3 IDC, ER+, PR+ and HER2-. Borderline Stage 1/2. I had clear margins and clear nodes following my WLE and SNB so they’re confident the cancer is gone. The adjuvant therapies were about mopping up and reducing recurrence risk.
I didn’t have any tests - only bloods between chemo sessions. They can’t check to see if gone as the whole point of chemo is to mop up any cells lurking around your body.
When op done (with clear margins if not a mastectomy) then it’s considered gone. Though no evidence of disease is more accurate.
