From Letrozole to Tamoxofen

Hi all,

Its 14 months now since my diagnosis, and I’ve found the forum a real help throughout!

I just wanted to share my experience with hormone therapy.  Starting out on Letrozole no side effects really until I’d been taking it for around 4 months then awful side effects set in general aches and pains but the worst was my hands, swollen sore & achey, I developed trigger finger in both thumbs and one finger it was caused by Letrozole so swapped onto Extremestane with no improvement at all.

So I decided two weeks before my breast check up to give my body a rest, my breast cancer nurse recommended a month off & then try Tamoxofen I was really dubious about taking them, been on them for 6 months now and apart from a few hot flushes after taking them in the morning, everything has settled down feel quite normal & healthy!

So my message is don’t give up on the hormone therapy, I was close as I felt awful but everything is great now and I’ve got the security of taking hormone therapy!

yes ive put a bit of weight on but in grand scheme of life does it really matter!

im 59 next month had a 3mm tumour removed with margins all clear no lymph involved so had 15 Radiotherapy treatments then the hormone therapy for belt and braces!

if I can help anyone please ask!
