Hi all,
My last injection over a month ago now, (had 10) previously without any real problems apart from injection site pain/odd bruise or leakage shortly after lasting a day or two of tenderness.
Last one had tenderness but it didnt go and slowly got worse to the point of burning sensation in buttock/hip area with throbbing sensation to back of leg which travelled into calf
area. Ended up in acute oncolog/ mri later found out a misplaced injection had caused piriformis syndrome/scaitca inflamed which still have 3 weeks later.
Sent home told to rest and take the normal painkiller meds along with ice pack treatment.
Where do i go from here as have stopped this treatment as advised. Dont want to have a further injection to cause further permanent issues.
Has anyone else had this issue or similar and what happened, what meds where you offered after…i was doing so well on this treatment, no real side effects, feeling anxious now
Thank you
My

I have been on fulvestrant for 12 months now. Like you on my last treatment I had the most terrible pain in my buttock, hip and calf. It was on both sides and now is just one side. I’m continuing with treatment atm.

Hi staceyr30,
Thank you for replying, after my last message, i arranged a appointment with my oncologist, after a indepth chat, i decided to go back to the fulvestrant injections, 3 lots later, still getting tenderness at injection site and odd bruise, but doing okay again. The alternative was to go onto chemotherapy tablets, as i had exhausted my previous options of hormonal alternatives from previous 1st primary back in 2021.
The fear of starting my second option being chemo tabs felt quite daunting, hence still having the jabs.
Take care and i hope everything is going okay with yourself.
