fungal infection on treated boob

Hi, I am  2 months post radiotheraphy and last week my boob started itching. My onc didn’t think there was any infection at the time but said to watch out for a fungal infection. Since then it has got itchier and the skin has got red and also darker (where new skin formed following radiotheraphy and my boob appears  to have slightly swollen. I have now also  developed raised areas like lesions on my neck and under my arm (lynode sites) I haven’t had an  ANc but am concerned. Has anyone else suffered with this? I will be going docs on Monday.

Hi samjs

I developed a fungal infection during my rads, the skin was bright scarlet. quite dark red and itchy, it responded very quickly to cream.  I would speak to your bc nurse, these things happen,  and it’s best to be sure.

take care

Hi ladies, i finished my radiotherapy last August with no problems apart from the tiredness. but since about April/May i have also begun having soreness and itching under the left breast and lots of aches and pains on that side. I have been prescribed 2 different creams to use daily but it doesn’t seem to be clearing up. I will be seeing my Oncologist tomorrow and this will be on my long list of topics for discussion!! Lol

My GP said it was possible to suffer side effects from any treatments in the longer term, i just didn’t think that they would still be popping up 9 months later! I know now that i am having lots of side effects from Chemo even thought my last cycle was in June 2013!! Fingers crossed I get some positive responses from my Onco visit tomorrow morning! Cheers, Michele x
