Many thanks Jan and Charhie.
Oh dear. I mustn’t be negative, but have to say that I’ve been feeling nauseous and unwell most of the day. I keep on burping too in a loud, embarrassing way ! I felt fine when I got up this morning and this only started about an hour after taking the generic exemestane so I assume that’s what is causing it. I’ve also got a really odd taste in my mouth.
This is disappointing as I never felt like this on the branded Aromasin. I’ll see how it goes.
Best wishes everyone
Anthi x
Oh Anthi that’s not good. It might not be the exemestane. See how you feel tomorrow. The taste in your mouth sounds a bit like it might be the tablets though.
If it does upset you you could ask to go onto the branded again.
My BCN told me that if it’s the same drug they can’t refuse to give it to you. That was when I changed from Generic Tamox to Nolvadex D.
I’m OK up to now. Fingers crossed.
Hope you soon feel better.
Love

hi Anthi, dont know if this helps, when i first started on aromasin i had a horrible metallic taste in my mouth which wore off after a few weeks, i also suffer from wind (burping) mainly at night though. Hope tomorrow is a better day.
Jan Hope your day passed without events.
Annie
Hello Jan and Charhie and thank you for your messages. I’ll see how it goes.
Take care

Morning Anthi and Charhie
How are you feeling today Anthi. Better I hope.
Charhie - I had stiff joints and loads of headaches and migraines which my GP increased the dose of my daily migraine medication for, but I didn’t have a funny taste or the ‘burps’.
I’m still feeling OK.
Jan xx
Hello everyone and thank you for your good wishes. Glad you’re still feeling OK on your generics Jan.
Well - I was still feeling a bit yukky today and I chickened out of taking another of the Teva exemestane. I’ve still got a few of the branded ones left so I took one of those.
I shall try the generic tablets again next week and hope that I don’t have the same reaction.
I’ll let you know. Take care everyone

Hi Anthi
I’m sorry you’re still not feeling well. Maybe a change back to Aromasin and a gradual change to the generic might be the way to go.
I’m not great this morning. Headache which started in the middle of the night and my hip, knee and ankle joints are very stiff, similar to how I was when I started taking Aromasin. I hope it goes away quickly otherwise I might be visiting the doc to ask if I can have Aromasin instead of generic.
Keep us posted, look after yourself.
Love

Hello Jan
I’m sorry you’re started getting stiff joints again. That doesn’t sound good and the headache in the middle of the night sounds horrible.
I think more than one GP is going to get a visit soon from people asking for Aromasin instead of these generics.
I shall have another go at starting the generic but have made an appointment with my GP just in case. I’ve got nearly a month to wait before the appointment though (he’s a busy man). I agree with what you said in an earlier post that we have enough to put up with anyway and really don’t need these changes.
I hope you soon feel better Jan.
Take care. Love Anthi x
Thanks Anthi
I think I’ll be on the phone to the surgery first thing on Monday morning. I’m feeling really sick now to the degree that I can’t do anything much. Just don’t feel like moving around. I usually have waves of nausea but this is so much worse.
Bonfire night tonight too. I work for a council which organises a big community bonfire and fireworks display so I have to go. I hope I’m feeling better by 6pm. I think I’ll keep away from the burger van though. (Wish I hadn’t though of that. Yuk)
That’s a long time to wait for a GP appt. Mind you at least you can have another go and tell him you’ve given them a good try.
Love

Hi Jan & Anthi,
I’ve now done nearly a month on the generic and the headaches and nausea are nearly gone. That is pretty much the same timeframe as when I first started on Aromasin. I have noticed that I’ve not been sleeping so well, but I slept for England on tamoxifen and that has gradually been returning to normal on Aromasin so it might just be a continuation of that. Pre BC I needed very little sleep.
Eliza xx
Hi Eliza
In that case I’ll try it for a bit longer. The headache has gone this morning and not feeling as sick, more like the normal nausea I have. I’m not so stiff either so I’ll give it a whirl and see how I go.
Thanks for your help
Jan xx
hi everyone. not a good weekend - fell over in my sitting room on saturday evening and have broken my left arm. painful.
they’ve given me a sling rather than a plaster cast as they said that gives the best result for that part of the arm (top of the humerus). the doc said my arm will never be quite the same as it was.
it’s the other side to bc and anc so now i shall have 2 dodgy arms. oh dear.
take care everyone
anthi xx
hi Anthi, so sorry to hear you have broken your arm, just what you need, you sound as though you are trying to stay cheerful, hope things look up on the medication front soon.
love and hugs
Annie
hope you are feeling better too Jan x
many thanks Jan and Charhie
Take care
Anthi x
OUCH!!! That’s all you need Anthi. So sorry about your broken arm. Did they give you any idea how long it will take to heal?
I’ve made an appt with the doc for Thursday morning. I’ve got a headache most of the time and nothing will shift it!!! It does go off for a few hours and then it’s back. I don’t necessarily think it’s to do with the new Exemestane tablets though.
Keep your chin up. Take care and give yourself a few treats. I think you deserve them.
Love and gentle hugs.

Anthi
Sorry to hear about your break. I broke my “good arm” too, right at the top - it was a complicated break into several pieces and there was doubt about how good my movement would be afterwards. I was in a sling for several weeks and it was really difficult to move my arm at all at first. But I had a lot of hydrotherapy and physio afterwards and really worked at the exercises and now it is absolutely fine, so don’t despair about what the doctor has said. Do ask for hydrotherapy when you are able to start to exercise, because your arm is supported in the water so you can move it much more freely.
All the best
Anne
Goodness, Anthi, just what you did NOT need. Hope it heals quickly.
And I hope your appointment with your GP goes well.
Eliza xx
hello everyone and thank you for your replies. Hydrotherapy is a good idea thank you Anne and it’s very good and very encouraging to know that your arm is ok now. I shall certainly work at the exercises when I get to that stage.
Jan - do you mean this thurs morning for your gp - if so what happened? hope it went well. whoops - typing with one hand is surprisingly difficult. they said 4 - 6 weeks for arm to heal. I assume that having borderline osteoporosis (caused by exemestane) means it may take longer to heal? I don’t know.
take care everyone
