Get away to the sun

Hi , I was diagnosed with breast cancer in June and and I’m now waiting for radiotherapy . We thought a holiday in the sun would be a good idea before radio starts but I’m having trouble finding travel insurance . I also have myelofibrosis and unfortunately every ins. company I’ve spoken say they won’t cover pre existing conditions . Anybody have any suggestions please ?

Hi,
Have you tried Aviva? We recently got ours through them. Pre-existing medical conditions weren’t a problem either.
We’re about to go on a much needed holiday too.
Hope you get it sorted. Enjoy your break.

Hi, I managed to get holiday insurance with Virgin, 40 pound for my husband and I for a weeks holiday in Croatia. I finish radiotherapy 4 days before we fly. Also, as we are flying with Jet2 they require a fit to fly form signed by your consultant.

I hope this helps and you can enjoy four holiday x

Thank you for your replies , I hadn’t tried either of them . I’ll give them a go

Also try https://www.insurancewith.com/
Specifically for people affected by cancer and other health conditions.
Quite a few questions to answer but rates are good.

Hi Floral

If these don’t pan out try using a local insurance broker . They don’t always give the cheapest quotes but they should be able to find you something and are usually knowledgeable helpful people - they may have better understanding of the stage you are at with your treatment if you explain than some random agent on the phone .

I can’t remember the name of the company they got me insured with but I went all the way to Las Vegas in 2019 whilst still undergoing regular ocular injections for a central retinal vein occlusion and I also had hypertension and asthma.

Best of luck and hope you have a good holiday ( make sure to keep your boobs / chest / decolletage out of the sun .

Make sure you bring lots of cover ups for your holiday. Your radiated skin will be very tender afterwards and very prone to sunburn. You will unlikely be able to use spf on that area so soon afterwards.

Even years afterwards my radiated skin is red within minutes of sun exposure.

Thank you all for your suggestions . After spending a good few hrs on line and on the phone we’ve decided to forget about a holiday abroad for now . Having to repeatedly input my health details was just doing my head in and making me face facts on my diagnosis :frowning:, so for now it will be good old UK for a break . I have my fingers crossed for a snowy ( non ski ! ) holiday early next year . Thanks all , will have a look again when radiotherapy is done :kissing_heart:
