Get my results tomorrow!!

Hi,

I am so nervous I get my results tomorrow for my ANC, already know that 1 node had micro deposit in from my SNB! Its all I can think about…

You’re in good company. Waiting is so difficult. Try something to occupy your mind as much as possible–reading (but not about BC!), listening to music, telly or DVDs, the shops, whatever normally gives you pleasure and takes your mind from your worries. Even if you only forget for a few minutes, that’s better than nothing.

Hi Donna,

there is a very reassuring article on the Breastcancer.org website re micromets. It’s probably impossible not to think about your results. I hope the time passes quickly for you. I tend to clean & bake like a thing possessed when waiting for results. Good luck for you. x

All the best of luck for tomorrow Donna.

Thankyou all for your kind words and support, I will try and take your good advice on board.

Tina45 - Thankyou for the article, nice to read something reassuring.

I hope you are all doing okay?

Thanks again

Hi Mary Grace,

Thank you, I wish you all the best to for your results on Friday x
I must say it is great when the dressings come off I couldnt wait to have a shower, makes you feel so much better.

Best Wishes

Donna x

Yes, I remember that first shower feeling - its absolutely ownderful to feel properly clean again!

Good luck with your results - I’m afraid this horrible disease is just a long series of wait for one thing or another! I just try to keep occupied - cleaning usually works quite well, although I’m usually one of the least house-proud people you’ll ever meet!

Hint for showering:

I cut up a plastic bag, and stuck it to myself with sellotape all the way round the dressing, and another time did the same but with cling film, then held a dry face cloth over it to catch any drips that ran down my shoulder. At least I was able to have a shower for the rest of me, and wash my hair properly, which was lovely.

I also asked the hospital if they could let me have a couple of spare dressings so that if I DID get them damp and the water soaked through to the dressing, I’d be able to change it. Needed to do that too, but it was lovely to have a proper wash.

Donna,

Good luck with the results tomorrow. I’m with Mary Grace having to wait till Friday & just wish I could escape DH’s clutches & go back to work - just to take my mind off things

Thankyou Chris, I wish you and Mary Grace good luck for your results on Friday.
Thanks for your kind words

Keep smiling

Donna and Mary Grace
Good luck with results tomorrow - will be thinking of you.

Mary Grace - I did the same as you and carried on working and sending mails just to feel normal. I continued through 4 treatments of FEC (working at home) and have now had to sign off sick. If it keeps your mind off the results/treatment - keep on going.

Big hugs
Janette

Hi all,

Thanks for your support!
Well got my results today, could of been worse but I have 2/22 lymph nodes contain micromets of cancer. I am also ER positive as well as HER positive.
So just need to have CT and bone scan (fingers crossed all clear) then will see oncologist and will be having Chemo, Rads, Herceptin, then Tamoxifen.
Its going to be a long haul but if thats what I got to do then so be it!!

Hope you all doing okay

Best Wishes

Hi Donna

At least you know the worst now and can plan on dealing with it. We will all be around to support you through this and you will get through it.

Janette xx

Thanks Janette,

Hope you doing okay?

Hi Donna, the waiting is terrible and sometimes when the results aren’t as good as we hoped, or we are a little disappointed with them, it amazes me how quickly we can find a positive comment or result within them! The treatment of bc is as they say a marathon not a sprint. Best wishes, be good to yourself, Donna xxx.

Hi I had my test results but now waiting for more, i have CT scan booked, dreading this, is it cos got 2/18 nodes infected.will they say no chemo and rads if the ct scan is clear. am i right in thinking not necessarily spread just cost got nodes involved and whats vascular invasion is this same as nodes involved? Shar x

Shar, you’re almost certain to have chemo, because you have grade 3 and a couple of nodes involved. That, unfortunately, is something you can’t wish away. Of course you could decide not to accept the chemo, but that’s not something I’d even consider, personally, but it is ultimately your choice. You need to discuss your own treatment plan with the oncologist who has YOUR details, as your plan will have been worked out specifically for you to give you the very best results. Chemo’s going to be tough but I’m sure we’ll get through it, and it’ll be worth it if it’s going to make us less likely to get this *&^%(*&% disease back.

The CT scan is just to confirm that it hasn’t spread (think of it that way, it’ll make it a bit easier on the inside of your head).

Vascular invasion means that the tumour had developed a link into your blood supply, so giving the cancer cells a way to get out of the breast. It’s not linked to nodes, that’s something different. Don’t jump to conclusions though, because you’re going to have chemo which will zap any cells that might have escaped.

Rads is also to zap any stray cells that might have hidden from the surgeon’s knife, and radiotherapy is used alongside lumpectomy to give the same success rates as mastectomy.

As for getting results tomorrow, I think I’ve given up hope of EVER getting out of The Waiting Room! I’ve been pestering my poor BCN just about every day since Wednesday last week, which is a week after my re-excision, and I could really do with knowing because OH has to arrange his own surgery dates tomorrow so we want to try to ensure that one or other of us will be mobile. I’d hate to be out of action just at the time when he’s in intensive care.

Hi CM, oh sorry to hear about your OH having surgery, didnt they say after your op when the results would be, blimey, im finding on here that there is alot of different ways the hospitals are treating us re results and information. My BCN doesnt like to give me too much info hence not knowing name of my cancer. plus the hormone thing, just told HER2 negative, dont know about the other hormones whether they involved. assuming no as not said. Thanks for explaining re vascular thing via blood but that wasnt even mentioned to me with my results, i only know of it cos read it on this site.
good luck re getting your results esp with your OH needing surgery,i can totally understand one of you needing to me mobile etc, cyber hugs and support sent to you xxxxxxxx I really appreciate your replies to me, you have been very comforting. xx
