I wanted to share my experience of getting help with healing, in the hope that it may help someone else. I had a mastectomy without reconstruction 5 weeks ago and initially all went well, then after the first week I got an infection in the wound. Antibiotics sorted out the infection, but I just wasn’t healing. I had holes within my wound which just weren’t closing, I also had 2 stoma bags attached as I was draining fluid from some of these holes, and they weren’t getting any better, my anxiety levels were going through the roof, I was not in a good place. Then I went to see my Craniosacral practitioner, someone I had seen pre-cancer and he said that my body was in a high level of shock and trauma and it couldn’t heal while it was in that state. By very gentle touch, mostly on my head, he was able to “wake up” my body again and get it working on healing. The transformation was amazing, I felt calmer almost instantly and my body went on to the job of healing. Next dressing change the nurse commented on how well I was healing and how the holes were closing. They are now all closed except one which still had a stoma bag attached and was leaking fluid, which he did some additional work on this week and now the final leaking has stopped and the stoma bag went yesterday. I can feel my body healing itself. I am so glad that I was able to get help, but it saddens me that this kind of complimentary help is not talked about enough. Craniosacral is a complimentary therapy it works in addition to conventional medicine, not instead of. Here’s a link to the National Organisation craniosacral.co.uk
Hope this helps someone. xx
