getting my hair back after chemo, what a great feeling?

Hi I am having my last chemo this friday, can you tell me ow lng before my hair and eybrows are coming back? xx

Hi mine took about 6 weeks fin aug my eyebrows and lashes were fast but hair was a bit slower I’ve now a full covering and can just get hold of the front but some are quicker some take longer gd luck laura x

Hi,Can anyone recommend putting anything on bald head to help with hair growth? Heather x

Hi Heather,
My hair started to grow back albeit finely during my last taxotere in December 2010,I was recommended to try a shampoo in the form of a soap bar from Lush called cinnamon shampoo,it costs about £6 but lasts for ages in fact just threw the last bit of it out the other day! I can’t prove that it made my hair grow quicker but it certainly conditioned my scalp well and my hair was in very good condition as it continued to grow,so I think its worth trying.I also bought some ‘hair treat’ moisturising cream from Lush which you massage into your scalp and leave on for 20 minutes which again I think helped.I finally had all my hair back in July this year its a different texture much thicker and stronger than it was before chemo hit it!Had my 2nd haircut & at last got my highlights back in a few weeks ago so hair & me feels like my old self again.Good Luck Laura x

Heather somebody recommended Castor Oil. I don’t think I will try it …it has too many childhood memories for me re constipation…yuck…I have bumped up " my hair has a sense of humour"
Cackles

Thanks Laura -Have just been on line and ordered myself some,Looks really good stuff, cant wait for it to come and try it on my little bit of fluff ive got on my head.Heather x

TBH, what you put on the outside of your scalp has less effect than the act of massaging it in.
Scalp treatments sit on the surface. The follicles are beneath the surface.

Pick moisturiser/treatment of choice (mine was Body Shop Vit E cream) and massage it in using fingertips. Go. on, give it a good ol’ massage twice a day. Feels good, doesn’t it? You’ve just encouraged blood flow to the follicles. They like that.

Hi - my hair took longer - 10 weeks after chemo finished before i saw a follicle… I’d been putting the Lush bar on it… nada… nothing… someone recomomended Aloe Vera gel was good for baldness - so I used that, and, bingo! May be co-incidence of course… but it’s thickening up nicely now, and I’m using AV gel at night, and Alpicen caffiene shampoo in the morning - good massage both times as Ninja says… I have stubbles of eyelashes now (could JUST get mascara on if I was careful) and you can see eyebrows… finished chemo in July… so in a way I’m not the most encouraging person to talk to, but I am, in another way, because i went through a few weeks of “what if it NEVER comes back, it’s taking so long?” and it has come back… don’t know about you, but I’m rubbish at this patience lark!! Hi girlies,

I’m a sucker for wonder cures! I’ve been using rapid lash every second night for my lashes - it was £40 but I reckon it’s worth it. I also used Natur Vital shampoo and tonic for alopecia since I started chemo and 10 days ago I changed to Redken Intra Force (it’s got a 30 days money back guarantee) again it was £40 but to get my hair to grow quicker I figured it was worth it and to be honest I’m seeing more growth already in the really thin bits.

Happy hair growing everyone  xx
