Getting the COVID-19 vaccine

I thought I’d share my experience today in case it helps anyone else… I’d assumed that as I was on the Clinically Extremely Vulnerable list, with all the shielding texts and letters that entails, I’d be on the CEV vaccine priority list. I hadn’t heard anything so checked with my GP surgery today and discovered that I wasn’t on the list! They were able to fix it quickly and I have an appointment to get the vaccine on Sunday, but it looks like some of the data systems aren’t quite as joined up as I’d expected.

So if you think you’ll on the vaccine priority list because you’ve had all the CEV letters and shielding info, you might still need to check.

Hi M123,

Thank you, good to be aware.

Do you mind my asking if you are in one of the areas in the country which has been quicker to do the vaccinations?

Aware most GP surgeries are mega busy and many areas (for understandable reasons) are still vaccinating priority group 1, the over 80’s, so extremely vulnerable still a fair time off (being 4th on list).

Thanks

You set me wondering as I’ve been shielding, then CEV, now CEV/shielding and it’s not much of a life so I’ve been waiting with bated breath … for nothing so far. Then today I got my call out of the blue and I’m to get the vaccine tomorrow at 11. My husband is over 70 and I asked about him but apparently CEVs are the priority. Then he got a call and he’s getting his at 11.02.

Is it a little weird to be excited at getting vaccinated??? You’ll be getting it very soon but well done for being on the ball xx

After all that, my letter inviting me to the central vaccine system finally arrived today!
