Hi there
I have 4 cycles of weekly pax left. 22 days! But I suddenly feel like I’ve hit a brick wall as it’s so close yet so far. I’ve had 18 weeks of chemo so far (EC and pax) and I’m feeling a bit battered. Any tips on getting thru the last 3 weeks x
Hi @stafford22
I think the brick wall is very normal the closer to the end of chemo! I was begging my team towards the end to stop chemo, they gave me the extra support I needed to get through. Have you spoken to them? It also helped me to visualise the tumour shrinking, so they got me an ultrasound just to see what was happening and it was just the boost I needed to keep going to know they they couldn’t see the cancer anymore.
If you’re well enough to have friends or family visit that’s also a huge help! Fingers crossed for you, I hope the next cycles go by quickly
x
Thank you. I’ve got an oncologist appt on Thursday and will discuss it then. I know I can get to the end of treatment but the days are dragging and I feel like I’m so tired. I have 4 to go, so I need to ask for some more support to get me across the finish line. Thanks for replying x
I remember that feeling well. I was also told by the nurse that it’s common to hit a brick wall towards the end. The tiredness is also cumulative and it’s a lot to cope with. Once you get to the last one, it’s a different feeling. I had my last chemo in Feb and I can barely remember what it was like now. Best of luck. Three weeks and it will be behind you. The time will pass quickly, I hope. xx
Thank you! Hopefully it’ll go fast, thanks for replying x
It’s so close now! I hope the heat isn’t bothering you too much either, but this time next year it’ll be a distant memory and hopefully you can go on to enjoy a proper summer ![]()
I also starting chemo in 2 weeks and I must admit I am scared. But reading through your post no am encouraged. And tips for me
Hi @sue10
It affects everyone so differently, it’s best to be prepared for every scenario and to let your team know if you have any concerns or side effects so they can help. There’s a lot of great advice on here and on the Breast Cancer Now website. The Breast Cancer Now nurses are so so wonderful and helpful. You can join the monthly chemo thread on here if you like as well so you can connect with other people starting chemo at the same time as you
it’s very normal to feel anxious or worried, but you will soon find your rhythm with it and it will fly by. Please do reach out if you need any support! ![]()
Thank you very much for your response and advise
