Hi there, I was diagnosed with G3 IDC on March 10th – exactly 4 weeks after I found a painless hard lump im my right breast while showering. ER/PR+, HER2-. Currently undergoing fertility preservation before starting chemotherapy soon (oncologist telephone appointment this afternoon).
It all happened fast, been ups and downs, but now I’m here – a place I’m rather glad to be. Cancer aside – I’d like to introduce myself, and hopefully to make some friends
we will get through this together!
You can call me by my handle or my name Lynn. I’m 29 years old, I grew up in China and immigrated to the UK in 2012, and now live in London. I work at a degree college, and was very burnt out at the time of the diagnosis, due to mega workplace drama (which now have mostly resolved in pretty satisfying manners
) so being able to take a break from it is a silver lining. Thankfully my work has been very supportive since my diagnosis and my colleagues are amazing, I’m very grateful for this.
In my spare time I like to sing. My wonderful best friend (also a musician) and I run this little amateur choral ensemble Sparrows in the Wood for fun (and for charity when we do caroling at Christmas). Feel free to have a look at our (amateur quality) recordings here: https://www.instagram.com/spatzenwald/. When it’s not Christmas/Advent we tend to slack a bit, so feel free to kick our collective butts if you want us to sing more ![]()
The other thing I do in my spare time is Kendō 剣道:a Japanese martial art derived from traditional swordsmanship and Samurai practices. This art brings all physical, mental and spiritual aspects in one, for me it’s a great source of strength. I’m hoping to keep practising during treatment. It’s my favourite topic – always love to chat about it! But please tell me if it gets boring ![]()
Also I love food and cooking. Been posting and closely following all the new recipes in Cancer made me eat ![]()
Thank you all for bearing with me talking about myself. We meet here due to cancer but I believe we are all much more than that. I’d love to get to know you all too!
Love you all, Lynn
P.S. my profile picture is an animated drawing by my best friend (musician as well as artist), in response to my PET-CT scan and being radioactive afterwards
