I’ve been diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time in left breast two weeks ago. Original breast cancer was in right breast 14years ago.
I’m still awaiting staging of cancer. I gather I have HER2 +, left g2 IDC, ER8 PRO.
Anyone know what the numbers mean apart frommHER2+ (I think that’s aggressive cancer)
I’m hoping since I did not feel any lump in left breast it only was picked up through mammograms and ultrasound. Hopefully I got it early and just have a lumpectomy with no. Chemo. Originally I went for right breast lump ( Benign)
I will be going to clinic next Friday week once they Have the results for MRI scan and bone scans. CT was fine.
Has anyone been through this where cancer come back but in different breast. It may not be the same cancer but in different breast
I know for me it was a massive shock to be diagnosed a second time. Mine was the exact same type in the same breast though so can’t give you any knowledge on your situation. I’m sure someone else will be able to though.
In terms of your numbers though, HER2+ and ER8 tends to imply you’ll be triple positive. G2 IDC is grade 2 which relates to the size and IDC is invasive ductal carcinoma. This is the more detectable type and g2 is very treatable. (Sorry if I’ve said anything you already know, I don’t mean to treat you like an idiot).
The treatment options have come on in leaps and bounds in the last 14 years so whatever they have planned for you I’m sure will be the best available now. I hope your appointment next Friday comes round quickly and you can get a plan in place so you know what’s next for you. I’ll be thinking of you and we are all hear for you.
It was a surprise rather than a shock. Shock came a bit later.
The first time was stage 3 cancer in right breast. From what you are saying it’’s grade 2 but not stage 2 cancer (obviously not conclusive) until I get the rest of results next Friday.
Annoying these numbers are from clinical notes on my nhs app. The doctor did not tell me numbers. That’s the trouble with nhs app tests results and googling it. I didn’t have that problem 14 years ago.
Yes you are right a lot has been done breast cancer in 14years. I’m praying I get away with no chemo.
Just let you know that I’m HER2 negative and dont require chemo. Thank god!
Not sure where the numbers I have came from ( I think they must be previous cancer numbers and not the current ones since I’m negative and not positive.
Am I right saying that being a negative does not require chemo and being a plus does?
