Hi Mary
just wanted to let you know, I did the same thing this weekend for the first time and am so proud of myself. dont wear anything on head at home and guests are warned and all ok about it. having good feedback and told I look good. Went to restaurant on sat. for lunch with OH work colleagues and wore nothing. was nervous, but didnt feel right in my wig. I was made to feel really comfortable and they were all great and I am so glad I did it. Would recommend it to all those out there. I felt great.

Hi All
cut hair short before chemo and son made his father promise that he’d not let me grow it long again. Wore scarves and hats through chemo (had wig but only wore it at one workplace mainly because one colleague couldn’t cope with the scarves).
Have been bare at home most of the way through tx.
Decided to stop wearing scarves/hats 2 days after rads when i couldn’t be bothered coping with scarf covering my irradiated neck as well as hat in the sun. Most comments very complementary (one manager did ask if the lack of scarf was permanent to which i replied only wearing hats to protect from the sun)
Now the next challenge is i need an ID photo for new job,Do I stay commando for that!! Think so.

good for you Crispy
funny how we have to learn to give it back…but that is really important too
my stepdaughter is here for the week and have been wearing a scarf or hat while she was here on weekend…too fragile to cope with reality I guess…
but decided that a week of wearing a hat round the house is insane, so have been going bare. And guess what, she lived and everything!!! It feels great too.
friends from work want to meet and I have to decide if I’ll shock em entirely (haven’t seen me since left work in March) or do it slowly…

Ok folks so now I have slightly longer hair on the sides than the top. Very fair so it looks as if there’s almost nothing on top.
the hair is just over the tops of my ears (one more so than the other)and looks somewhat odd with the very short hair on top so have just been to see my friendly hairdresser to take an eighth of an inch off to tidy it up. must have been my quickest haircut ever! She also shaved off the tuft that was growing at the base of my neck

Hi all,
It has been two and a half years since my chemo. I hated the feel of my wig and during the cold weather wore hats and scalves, but by the time my chemo was over it was really hot and sunny, everything felt unbearably hot, so I just thought what the hec, folks will just have to accept me as I am.
And it is true, it is liberating.
I really liked my hair when it came back, all soft and fluffy and I loved the really short look, but now its back to normal streanth and thickness, I can’t quite summon up the courage to have it cut ulta short again. But surfice to say I am done with straighteners, dryers and all that faffing about for good, when it gets too long to wash and go I’m off to the hairdressers!
