Good days through chemo

Thought it would be nice to start a new thread to share our good daus through chemo to show new starters it’s not as horrendous as they may be expecting.

From day 3 of my first cycle of FEC (2 weeks ago) I’ve been for a daily hourly walk in fields where I live. I think it helps physically and mentally with side effects. I breathe in the fresh air slowly and appreciate my surroundings. I watch a dvd every day which involes comedy …Peter Kaye, Muchael McIntyre; Benidorm box set. I try to laugh at something every day.

Please everyone, share on here the nice things we can show during our journey xx

Hi Emma,

Lovely idea

This is going to sound a weird one, but I have found that I have rediscovered fizz!  With the weird mouth stuff numbing taste and texture eating hasn’t been the pleasure it usually is, but by the last week of the cycle, when I’m feeling really well again, I have developed a passion for prosecco (would be champagne but for budgetry contraints!)!  And that has to be a good thing, right?!

Hi Emma

what a good idea to start this thread!

Yes, we have many good days - and we may often be able to make the more challenging ones a little better, by being kind to ourselves and enjoying the little things.

Whether it is the great outdoors, our pets, a littly fizz (!) or whatever else migh float our boat.

If not at this time, when do we usually give ourselves permission to just be…enjoy…and relax.

My treat to myself today - was painting my toe nails a gorgeous shade of purple!

They look quite stunning, I must say - just hoping the sun will stay out for a few days, so I can show them off!

Off out now - being treated to lunch by by fella - hey presto - here comes the Aston Martin…really! Great way to be driven…

I agree, great thread. I assumed I shouldn’t drink on chemo, so will ask, occasional glass of something with a meal would be nice!

I’ve just been to an amazing relaxation session at Force, my local charity. Relaxing music and visualisation, I’m so relaxed and calm. Taken a relaxation cd home with me to use too ? I wasn’t even stirred by a man who was apparently snoring next to me, so I was told afterwards, I was completely oblivious ?xx

Also, I think it’s a good idea to have a focus every day, whether it’s a short walk, a colouring in book, a suduko puzzle, a favourite programme. Find something that can be ‘‘your thing’’ to escape every thing else around you. A little something every day helps. But if there is a day you can’t for whatever reason, don’t beat yourself up … itll still be waiting for you when you are ready xx

I’ve gone for a long walk along the cliffs and sea front at Exmouth … certainly blows the cobwebs away … nothing better than getting out in the fresh air xx
