Well most of you prob know I was dx back in July 07 with bc and multiple liver mets, and then had 3 x FEC and 3 x Taxotere and have been on Herceptin since Dec 07.
I have just had a bone scan after continual back ache for a few months and had my regular ct scan. I saw my onc yesterday and got the results.
Thankfully my bone scan was CLEAR - which is a massive relief as I really did fear the worst and thought I had a spread. So well pleased about that.
And then… apparently, my ct scan shows NO CHANGE in size, shape or position again for the 3rd time, since last September. And on the ct report, my oncologist said that they had put “could be cysts”. I am so very very confused now, dont really know wot to believe or think to be honest.
I am well pleased that there is no change and everything is very stable and Herceptin is working well for me. But wot do I think about it “maybe being cysts”. I cant believe that myself, and cant let myself belive that either really if that makes sense.
Has anyone else been in this position or got any words of advice?
Dear Dawn
when i read your post I just had to reply to you as I can imagine how you must be hoping against all odds that this could possibly be true. It made me feel so emotional reading it as you’ve been through the whole trauma of secondaries and now there is some hope that it actually wasn’t. I really really hope that things continue as they are with no progression.
I do/did have secondary liver mets, as had multiple lesions last February when saw a liver specialist, but the chemo and herceptin have obviously done their job for me and shrunk the majority to nothing.
I do know that ct scans only pick up tumours of a certain size as well.
But at least I can hope that the 2 visible ones are not wot they thought. Although I really dont believe that in my heart!!
Hi Dawn,
I can totally understand your confusion! I think it is good news and long may it continue.
My liver tumours grow and shrink all the time and each report confuses me, one of the tumours seems to have stayed the same size for 4 scans 1.75 it did go as big as 7cm so I believe it is dead but just likes to sit there.
Well I hope you can enjoy the summer and not be disturbed by all this bc malarky.
Love Debsxxx
That sounds like good news but how confusing too. I think you should ask your oncologist for more explanation. Cancer doesn’t turn into cysts so are they saying that you never had liver mets in the first place? I do know somone else who has had this happen.
Hope you have a great summer…and get a bit more explanation.
Hi Dawn
Sounds like good news to me but as has been said by Jane, you can always get a fuller explanation from your onc now the results have had a time to make sense - or not as in this case.
Seems that something is working though.
