Good News!

I know it gives me a boost to hear of good news so I hope my scan results today are helpful to someone else out there.

I had litle hope of much if any improvement on my scan after only having had 2 cycles of my chemo and missing both second doses on day 8 due to low neutrophils/infection but…there has been a reduction in the tumours in my lungs and liver and also small but positive reduction in my bones.

I was quite eurphoric initially and then reality settles in that I am only just at the beginning of a long road but… I feel quite positive about being able to carry on with a relatively normal life now the next few months. We are going to try and manage the next three chemos using my veins, no more Hickman Line for the time being, the source of all my problems over the last few weeks.

My Oncologist was also very positive about the oral chemo drugs that many of you have mentioned, there are two that are possibilities when needed and she is confident that more will become available. So, maybe we will be some of the luckier ones girls and they will be able to keep us ticking along. I have told my Onc and BC nurse that I expect to see 1st January 2020 and they are both up for the challenge!

Now about that new car my hubby promised me…

Hugs to you all

Sue

Susie, I think that is FANTASTIC news! You must be thrilled - I know it’s a long road we’re travelling but good news like this keeps us going.

I think I will join you in your challenge for 2020 if you don’t mind!

Take care

Hi Sue
What great news and thanks for sharing it with us all. I know that the good scan results I had during chemo in 2008 really helped me when I was feeling cr@p from the chemo. Hope the next doses are kinder to you and I’m aiming to be around for the 2020 challenge! I have to be, as one of my ‘gormless’ purchases of last year was to renew my passport which now runs out in 2020 so I need to make the most of it as they cost so much these days
Take care
Nicky xx

Great news! so glad for you and long may it continue! Jayne

Hi Sue I am really pleased that you are having such good results. In 2020 I will be 60 and am planning on having a huge party.

Well done long may it continue for you

Julie x

Right, Your all on then. The 2020 challenge is launched.

I am getting together with one of my best friends tonight and we are going to start organising an Annual fund raising dance for the local Hospice/Macmillan/BCC whatever, as long as it goes to help people like us.

I had an absolutely smashing party with a live band last August to celebrate my 50th (birthday was in december but didn’t want a winter party!) and my ‘recovery’ - little did I know. Everyone had a blast and thought we should do it every year, so we are going to.

When it is organised I will let you all know and anyone who is near enough or fancies a weekend in a lovely part of South Cumbria can come along.

I will keep you posted! It will be a fabulous setting, live music and hog roast - oh and great company as we have enough friends, work colleagues and nurses to keep it a select gathering - even better! Start thinking about your frocks and shoes girls!!!

Going to test drive the car this pm - I am going to have a bright red one!!!

LOve to all

Sue

Forgot to say Nicky, my hubby has just sent for my new 10 year passport as well!!! Thinking about a romatic week with him Greece after chemo finished - porbably May sometime. Mum has said she will come and stay and feed my teenagers!

Sue

That is a brilliant idea. me and my OH used to enjoy weekends away, one of the things we havent done at all in the past six months.

Hope you enjoy your bright red car. My car is curently stuck in three feet of snow and I am getting a bit stir crazy!

Keep us posted on your social events organising

Just love to hear good news - congrats Sue. I was also 50 last year, April, but was just at the end of chemo and my dad died 4 days before so had a small family get together with my twin brother. Hubby bought me a surprise new car Fiat 500 and no plate F1 SUE!

Hope the test drive goes well and you have fun in your new car.

Good for you organising a fund raising do, I’d love to support it.

Wishing you well with the rest of your chemo and treatment.

Sue, what a cool number plate!!! I got a Fiesta with some of my criticall illness payout and I love him as I have never had my own car, he is called Freddie, stuff clearing the mortgage!!!

Carol xx

Hi Sue, Julie, Carol and all

I haven’t decided on which car to have yet. Test driving the ‘new’ golf next weekend and then will try to decide. May not go for red after all, I had my eye on a Mazda 3 Sport which would have looked stunning in red but I wasn’t too keen on it from the comfort angle, I have to have something that I can be comfy in, my back is a bit of a problem - so we shall see.

But I have been feeling good this last week, and hope to be better next week, before chemo again on 25th Jan. I went to work every day last week, not quite full days but not far off. It was brilliant to be back amongst everything again and I hadn’t missed anything during Dece, ber when I was out for the count, so nothing spoiled.

My husband has started to complain about my demands, so I must be better!!! I don’t ask for anything/want anything doing when I feel lousy.

LOve and hugs to all.

Sue x
