I have just been to to the onc today and for once I have had some slightly better news. And I just wanted to tell somone. I was originally diagnosed with secondaries in my lung, neck and liver at first diagnosis in March 2007. At the time they told me if the FEC didn’t work I would only have a bout 3 months.
But despite all of there concerns the FEC worked really well except on my liver. I have been taking Arimdex with Zoladex injections since November. I have had a new tumour come up in my right breast and in my neck again BUT I have been told today that they are shrinking. So I don’t have to have any more chemo at the moment but continue with the Armidex and Zoladex. I havn’t got to go back for another 2 months except to have a mammogram or ultra sound to measure the tumour in my breast more accurately.
I know that this probably doesn’t seem much but to me this is a huge step forward and I just wanted to share it with you
Thank you for sharing this with us. I’m really pleased to hear how well you are responding well to the treatment. It just goes to show that the doctors don’t know all the answers and a lot of people seem to be very well for a long time with their treatment.
Chat Tuesday - keep celebrating until then…and dont forget its wine and cheese night, so we’ll celebrate with you!!! (I may even have a Port for you tonight!! Hic!)
Caroline, brilliant news!! Please don’t say it doesn’t sound much but it means a lot to you, because everything positive means so much to all of us. I’m really, really pleased for you and understand how you must be feeling. I’m sure my family and friends don’t understand my excitement when the onc says he doesn’t want to see me for two or three months! I feel like skipping down the road whenever he says that
Thank you everyone for your kind comments. I will see you on live chat (if I can get in) Didn’t know it was cheese and wine night when did this come about?
Caroline
What great news!!! gave me comfort to read your good news! I ve got secondaries in both lungs and my spine dx nov 07- so although I am a generally happy person and very positive it really helps me to hear of stories like yours!! (I know there is a thread going at the moment re: pros n cons for postitive news but I can only agree that it is great to hear good news and gives even those who are positive about their future a little boost by hearing news like yours!!! and to the girls that disagree with that ‘good news thread’ I say well they dont have to read that section!! harsh i know and i feel sorry for them, but we can make our own choices in life whether to read the good news section or not!!!)
anyway - Fab news!!! hope youve celebrated in style !!!
(and thank you for giving me a boost today!!!)
Zippy xx
